Please: I Need Some Help On Domain SEO -- I am totally baffled

I recently launched a site about UFOs after first checking keyword phases using Google's adwords tool.

It took me some time to find a phase available that got a decent number of searches per month both nationally and locally: ufofilesreleased.com

I purchased the domain, launched the site and started populating it with quality, original content written by me.

Now, here is my question and an unsolved mystery.

When I check my site in Google using site:ufofilesreleased.com -- all my pages are indexed. I have gotten about 10 search referrals from Google.

But, when I enter the full domain address without site in front of it into Google's search engine, or the keyword phrase, my site doesn't show up on any page!

My site doesn't show up at all anywhere.

Why is this? It defeats all the work I did to acquire the domain.

I am relatively new to SEO and I am hoping someone here might have an answer to why this is so and how I can fix it.

Thanks for your help warriors!

How old is your site? This happened to me in the first couple of months after launching my site but eventually that problem went away as I marketed my site more and built backlinks.

The domain name itself won't guarantee a ranking when there are sites that have been around longer than you that are building backlinks for that phrase. it helps certainly, but you still need to do some work.

for the search term "ufo files released" you rank #49 in google. for "ufofilesreleased" you rank #14

I would focus on article marketing and building backlinks to your site that way and let google catch up. Web 2.0 and social bookmarking will help you, too.

The site is a little over a week old. Thanks for the explanation and suggestions. I will follow your advice.

      Thanks much.

Give it time. If your site is new google still has to fully index it and everything. SEO can be very confusing and you have to be patient with it.

Start building links to your site and keep building them. Don't let google distract you from that. As long as you are building links you will eventually see some results.

since your site is so young, just build links slowly by hand and do some article submissions - by hand.

While it will be tempting, wait to buy backlink packages and other things like that until your site is at least 6 months old. You might want to focus on building a related facebook page and twitter account and use those sites to funnel people to your website at first (make sure you put corresponding links to FB and twitter on your site as well!) Using a google ads campaign may also help.

if you go overboard with 1000's of links to your site when it's still new google can penalize your site, so just be patient (hard! I know!)

Sites:yourdomainname.com definitely shows your site cause this techniques are used to only search the sites that contains the word you type and it is exactly of your domain name.It is necessary for you to understand that the resull obtained there is of Google cache.Your site is not indexed properly due to absense of backlinks.Try social bookmarking and blog commenting initially.

I know how it is man. Your site is young trust me. You keep adding quality content and build back links here and there without over doing it. I notice something different with every site I launch and I have only been doing seo for about 6 months but after awhile youll get use to it. Rankings are always different and will finally settle down after a few months. I noticed that after about 2-3 months my sites will finally mature enough and site at a position in the serps where google thinks it should rank depending on the competition on your chosen key phrase. Just give it time and build links at a normal pace and you will see you site ranking pretty soon. Some sites dance around when your building links and adding content and some sites thats are in a nich that is not that comp. will not dance. But like I said, keep adding quality content and build links and here before long you will notice your site ranking for its key phrase. It probably wont rank in the top 10 depending on the comp. and how much work you have been putting into backlinkg, but it will settle down somewhere and you will be able to go form there. I hope this helps.

Patience is the key when it comes to building backlinks and getting ranked.

On another point, you said that "ufo files released" gets a decent number of searches.

I've just checked the figures and it gets

    480 GMS
    210 LMS

which is pretty low. I wonder if you made the most common mistake with keyword research and looked at the broad match figures rather than exact match figures.

Additionally, the keyword phrase has definitely peaked. You should always check Google Insights to see what search trends your keyword phrase has.

Probably so, I did the same when I first started but luckily enough I didn't build a site around it. I think a few days later I figured out I should have been using the exact mach.
