I'd suggest using the Noble Samurai Dojo videos that go along with Market Samurai (which you can get for free). They are probably the best videos out there about keyword research...

    Noble Samurai - Dojo

    Hope that helps

    Thanks

Yes I'd agree with this. Market Samurai is an awesome tool, and their training is really good as well. Keyword research is the fundamental part of SEO or any traffic strategy, so make sure you get this right.

I will get it right only with experience. No course or a blog post can teach you that. But it can surely help you to get there soon. The market samurai has good videos.

There are many paid services, but I like Google's resources along with Traffic Travis. I guess 'cause they're free to use.

You can research competition, search volume, and trends with Google keyword research tools, and take that to Traffic Travis and find out if that keyword or phrase is possible.

      Hi Cbnet,

I use the keyword tool at Keeyword to sort my keywords. It makes the sorting process simple and very fast (and it's free). The best thing is that you only have to sort each keyword once when you update your keywords.

I would say the best methods are learn from the people here in the warrior forum. You would basically start of by using the google keyword tool to findf a keyword with high search volume and high cpc which means that it is a profitable keyword. Then just find out how much competition that keyword has.

These are also good research sources:

    Google Adwords’ Keyword Estimator
    Google Insights for Search
    Google Trends Keyword Demand Prediction
    Microsoft AdCenter Keyword Forecasting
    Wordtracker’s Free Basic Keyword Demand

So what's the deal? Google is insisting on being natural and organic, meaning hand-handled links should not count. On the other hand it offers all kinds of tools which make it impossible not to accommodate yourself.

The most friendly and basic tool which is very very easy to understand is Google's own keyword tool. Practice on that before you get into more serious stuff

Two things need your focus the most:
    1) Google keyword tool
    2) Keyword spy

They are easy to understand and most importantly are great for beginners as they are free.

    Hey, cbnet

First, you need to discover AS many word combinations that are connected with the semantics of your site AS possible. For that you can either (1) use your brain (which, in most cases, is not the most productive way) or (2) a keyword suggestion tool.

Second, you need to see which of your keywords are actually being LOOKED UP by users. For that, you can use Google Adwords Keyword Tool (it's free), for example.

At this point you pick out the most popular keywords. But don't simply send not-so-popular keywords into the bin. Especially if they are longer phrases. It may turn out (later) that they are easier to rank highly for.

Third, competition research. You need to check how many webpages are returned by the search engine you are targeting in response for each phrase. Say, you type in "green apples' on google and see that there have been about 7,780,000 results found.

You can do it manually or can use a tool like Rank Tracker (the free version), to research many keywords at once.

Fourth, you see what keywords have the best popularity/competition ratio, so these will be your main keywords. The number of main keywords would depend on the scale of your SEO campaign, but normally you'd have 3-5 keywords per landing page. But, like I said, some folks may disagree with that.

AND, don't forget about those additional keywords, especially long-tail ones (longer key phrases). They may not get as many searches as you main keywords, but, if competition is low for them, they are normally easy to rank for. And, if you're ranking for a hundred long-tail keywords, that could bring a lot of extra traffic to your site.

As far as videos to show the best way to find and generate as many KW's as possible I would recommend a video by one of the Warrior members packerfan. The video I would say by far is the best out there for finding niches.

As far as tool go, I've been toying around with Ultimate Niche Finder and I'm extremely impressed by it's ability to generate thousands of keywords by scraping previous searches.

I've been using it in conjunction with MS and Traffic Travis for deeper KW competition analysis and have come up with some unbelievable low competition, high search KW's.
