Build a quality site and they will come. Not!
Do your on-page SEO right and they will come. Not!
Build backlinks and they will come. Not!
Pay google adwords for traffic and they will come. Yep, but your CPC will drop into the toilet!

I am so tired of working and working and paying for SEO services for better SERP results and seeing almost no results. In fact, right now I must be on the down side of the google dance because my SERPs dropped significantly from a few weeks ago!

Who else is tired of busting their butt while google makes all the rules and decisions?!?!

you just have to learn what google wants and you will rank high ....then collect leads and use other traffic methods such as video marketing in order to retain those customers and market to them even if google gives you a big **** off and bans you ...or drops your rankings

It just seems to be too time consuming. The theory for me has always been, build a quality website and you will rise in the rankings with organic traffic because the users will post backlinks and do a good chunk of the SEO for you. Also since google has access to the site statistics, they will bump me up in the SERPs with the better numbers. Trust me though, that doesn't happen.

I have a site which has over 7000 registered users, averages about 2100 visitors a day, has over 40 minute average daily time on site, and I decided to create a facebook page and added a like button to the site.

      For the month of December....
      82,168 Visits

      25,423 Unique Visitors

      1,705,029 Pageviews

      20.75 Pages/Visit

      00:42:04 Avg. Time on Site

      7.81% Bounce Rate

      24.07% % New Visits

After 45 days, it has less than 50 facebook likes! What am I supposed to do? My time is weighted 95% SEO/ 5% Development. What a waste!

I'm not saying I'm not happy with those numbers, because I am happy. What sucks is why I can't rank in the top 3 of SERPs. Those numbers would be even better. Right now I am sitting around 8th, and I can't seem to budge forward.

          SOOOO true!

The only thing you (The OP) needs to do is sit down and figure out how to manage your time so that you're not on the brink of SEO-suicide and still making money. I know if you hear the same advice over and over, it loses it's flair. But hey man, read between the lines and take the advice. People aren't saying it over and over just to copy each other. Calm down, Slow down, and Think of ways to make your life less stressful and more comfortable.

    ...these are the very reasons why b l a c k h a t SEO gets explored...

...I had a contact in the same room as MC at Pub Con this year and BHSEO was the flavor of the week...

    ...by the professionals...

    ...sucks...I know...

...some of the things they were saying were straight up vilified...

...even made me squirm in my seat and I'm borderline...

...although, I did pick up an SEO tip just this week that is totally lethal...two actually...

    ...one I will definitely be doing...the other...not a chance...I'm NOT a criminal like that...

Yes, the keywords really do matter in your overall success.

Choose keywords which are rankable (I mean top 3 spots at least) and attract decent traffic volumes, then rank for them.

And THEN the traffic will come AND you will keep your profits

If SEO is tiring you, you haven't figured out how to leverage it yet.

Not that I have. Just sayin'.

Your most important asset is KNOWLEDGE. Understand SEO inside and out, and outsource the rest.

If SEO was easy, everyone would be doing it. It really comes down to how bad you're looking to achieve success and what will you give in order to get there.

While people like you are giving up or complaining, others are working late nights until they can't keep their eyes open and into the early hours of the morning.

Google doesn't make all the rules and decisions... You do.

Keep your head in the game! Nothing in life comes easy.

I understand google makes the rules, but I feel I am following the one that is most important, making a quality site. I don't do blogging or wordpress sites. I make web 2.0, php, jquery, mysql sites. I can't sit back and target the best keywords because I'm not hear to write about topics. This has to be something I am passionate about and is something people need and use.

People talk about making a quality site and you will go up in the rankings. Well, from my experience that just isn't true. Analyze my stats from one of my websites. I personally consider them extremely good, but there are sites ranked above mine that don't get anywhere near those stats, yet they are ranked higher. Based on so many other posts here, it takes a lot of self-promotion to get yourself to the top of the SERPs. I've done my share of self-promotion but I'd rather spend my time on the actual site than promoting it.

Do I know how to do SEO? Yeah, but I am not an expert and it is sad how much time it ends up taking away from the actual development of my sites.

Yeah man you need to listen to the people above you and get over the need to be passionate about the site you're building. The ability to succeed with SEO really is about how much research you do beforehand. I spent all of last week learning how to research KWs. After 5 days, I was left frustrated and without a single domain to show for it. Then I figured it out; now I don't have enough time to develop all the sites/domains I'm building. You need to spend some time with someone on here who knows what they're doing and consistently ranks sites high in the SERPs.

Get a mentor. Otherwise you're just going to keep failing.

SEO can get tiresome and tedious. But if you're in it for the long term, you need to do a little SEO every day. Hard work will ultimately pay off, but it could take months.

I'm sorry but ranking in Google is a piece of cake. You don't need to spend hardly any time on SEO at all.

Listen, if you wanted to play pro ball you would figure out the rules and then the system which was going to allow you to rise to the top.

Google is like the NFL. They have rules and a system. If you know the rules and work within the system you will do really well.

The one tip I will give you is this; you make all of your money in the research!
      (read that again).

Someone in a post above (I didn't quote them said roughly "Keyword Baby" it's all about the keywords") Well that is exactly what I mean.

When they said "keywords" they mean (I hope) research. I typically launch a new site and have it on page 1 within 3 to 10 days. Then I push it up page one if it's not #1 yet.

Am I some SEO guru? Do I slave over SEO all day? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I research the keyword really, really well 1st to be sure I will rank.

Here is what I average. 70+ % on page one in 3 to 10 days with literally under 1 minute of my time to get 150 (high quality) starter links, read that high quality part again. Profile links, scrape this, blast that or similar are NOT quality links. I then just wait and watch.

      70+ % go page 1.

      20% + or - go to page 2.

5% go page 3 or lower.

      5% stink.

Those that hit "don't stink" and above I give 1 article link (in context) to 8 blog networks I pay monthly for.

If its not above the fold after that I sell it.

If it's above the fold I keep it and if it's not #1 yet I make it #1.

      Then I profit.

I ranked most of my new websites on Page 1 of Google within 2-3 months.

One of my website ranked #1 when it was 5 month-old. It's currently receiving on average of 25K UVs per month, earning about $400 per month via Adsense, and another $400 per month via 3 different affiliate programs.

    It's all about:

    - the niche you're into
    - the domain name you choose
    - the content
    - the right backlinking strategy

And I'm very certain that ANYONE with a strong desire
to succeed, CAN succeed, with these 4 elements...

You are whining with that kind of result? Man, if I could generate that rate considering I am battling with over 80 million competitors with a "super" stiff level of competition, I would surely be the happiest man in the world of SEO.

Consider yourself blessed with that one. Whining about bad results will never bring profit for you. The word "miracle" is not acceptable with SEO. All things come down on how hard you work for it.

If everything else fail even though you worked hard, think about it again, working hard without logical thinking and enough analysis is just you are boating against the force of the river. No matter how hard you paddle, you will always end up following the flow of the river.

The point is, if you are not satisfied with the result delivered by whosoever you hired, don't blame SEO, don't blame anyone, get your a** up and strive on your own to get what you want.

Ha ha.. I think you should get used to all of this.. for some this is tiring, for some one like me it is exciting. I have never used PPC but very happy with what I am doing!

Basically I am this field for 5-6 years and initial years were quite difficult. After two years I understood that whatever you do, wait for two months before it getting reflected anywhere or is being used for some of my benefit. The immediate traffic is just a flash in the pan! Keep your patience you will also get used to it!

2k UV per day? I hope you were/are monetizing them...

You are making your life complicated for no reason, I don't get people who do this, always doing things the hard way.

I know programming and know PHP as well, but why should I waste 5 hours or more creating a PHP site from the ground up? Do a quick WordPress install or even Joomla. The search engines love WordPress or Joomla.

Use WordPress and take the advice given in this thread. Especially keyword research.

I can't sit back and target the best keywords because I'm not hear to write about topics.
I guess you are not here to make money then.

If your site is new then you don't stand much chance of ranking high straight away! After the Googlw panda update aged domains are the key!!!! Google isn't stupid, there fed up with new sites, building thousands of backlinks etc...there on to it!

What i have found is u need a lot of unique content with internal linking around on your site.

Make your home page at least a 1000 words! The more the better!!
As for backlinks just concentrate on high page rank links, contextual links etc..

Do this and your on to winner especially for the less competitve niche

I pretty much outsource my SEO at this point. You have to spend some money if you want to make money and have some freedom. You can get a VA or SEO team to work on 5-10 sites for $300-500 a month, and that's all they do so they probably know it better than you (at least in my case).
