Adsense - FRUSTRATING!

I cannot express how frustrated we are with adsense these days. We've of course opted OUT of "Ads based on user interest" for our entire adsense account (Allow & Block Ads > Advanced Settings) but we still face the absolute ignorance of google and how they handle google accounts.

ANY user who is logged into their google account and who visits one of our sites is likely STILL going to be shown ads based on their "interests" because google enables this on a PER account basis... even though the setting to disable it is buried DEEP within your account and only "sticks" until the next time you log out / in again.

So what is a company to do? It's absolutely pointless to serve up ads based on user "interest". If I just researched BBQ pits, I don't need to see ads for them on the IM site I am visiting. I NEVER click these ads, and my adsense stats shown that our visitors don't either.

So why then would google continue to operate like this?

Thanks for listening to my rant.

Additionally, Google update their privacy policy and any one logged in its services like orkut, plus, youtube, gmail etc will be treated like same user and so the same ads will follow him everywhere.
I too chased by a google ads everywhere because once I visited that site but it is not of my interest anymore..

eh, when someone is searching/researching for a product or service they are likely to hit quite a few sites. No reason for them to jump from BBQ sites to IM sites.

It was a bit easier before they instituted interest based ads and I completely agree that it certainly would never influence me as a viewer (disregarding that I would never be distracted by an adsense ad anyway other than to research the landing page) but the change had zero effect on my adsense returns, although I did expect it to be otherwise.

It is a bit spooky when those ads follow you around though isnt it!

One of the spreadshirt ads will show up featuring the exact same store you visited for weeks after your initial visit to their store (I have some involvement in art/pod niches)

I should add that I do fn gangbusters with adsense and think its incredibly easy to bank with
