I created a new page (a new post on a WP blog).

Usually, all my posts were indexed in a day at most. Now, I have a post which dates back January 29, so 5 days, and still, Google didn't index it yet.

I haven't done any backlinking, or weird stuff (like using BH techniques), I don't do that. Also, I sent a ping twice via pingomatic.com

Is this common?

  • In my Opinion to check all the usual suspects like robots.txt, index meta tag of your webpage

    Sometimes, Google becomes lazy
It is better to get some quick bookmarks and ping those bookmarks along with your URL. That should help to get quicker index.

Its not necessary that your website page is indexed within a day.If you want to get it indexed, then do Bookmarking and forum posting.

Ok so it got indexed, after a week, but to my surprise, it was indexed with the date on which I posted it on my blog.

How can Google tell when it was published?

Try and social bookmark it on Digg.com, or use Social Monkeey. It's also free.
