Are traffic exchange programs good or bad for SEO ?

I'm not sure about this, but i've read on a forum that traffic exchange programs are good for SEO but on other blogs they say it's harmful for a website ranking and that google doesn't like such sources of traffic.
Any sure information please ? Thanks

    traffic exchange is bad for site. don't use it. Reason is users have more chances to leave from the site if exchange the traffic.

    It is bad idea my friend.
    Most of the time the two website who exchange there traffic don't belong to same niche. In this case both of you will loose traffic without any action. Secondly Search Engines don't like it.
    Traffic exchange will only possible when both of you guys will have links of each others website and it is known as link exchange and Seach Engine don't like Link Exchange/Two way linking. Only go with one way linking.

      Traffic exchange is done to earn credit. The visitor don't care about the content. If site not useful then also it get more visits and pageviews but after some period it lose its traffic as traffic exchange program stop. It may be harmful to your site.
