Question Concerning Blog Commenting

Hi all, just a newbie question, I noticed that when doing blog commenting I only enter my website address and my name is the anchor text, so my questions are:

1. should I search for a relevant blog to my niche or should I give more value on whether the blog gives dofollow backlinks and has high PR?

2. Also do you get from blog commenting some traffic or you do it just for the backlinks?

    Good questions for a begginer.

    1. It is important that you search for relevant blogs because that is what counts. If you sell beans, make sure you have a backlink from a blog where they at least talk about gardending or food products :-) And of course, each backlink should be dofollow, otherwise you are not getting any link juice!

    2. Unfortunately, most people comment because they want to get backlinks. Most people abuse blogs just to get such a link. Alas, but that is what happens in the world of SEO.

Simply provide INTELIGENT comments in other blogs, pointing to your site, or to sites who link to you (e.g. squidoo, hubpages, blogspot, or any other web 2.0 site)

You can use an automated tool to comment, just like scrapebox or others. You should comment INTELIGENTLY, talking some interesting thing about YOUR topic.

Actually, your back links does not have to be related to your site for it to count. Try to use your target keyword in place of your name or add a mixture of your keyword and your name such as Business|Jack. Some blogs actually allow the use of your keywords so long as your comment is highly related to the content you don't have issues. This will enable the search engine to rank you higher for your chosen keyword.

    2. Also do you get from blog commenting some traffic or you do it just for the backlinks?
Sure, you can get traffic from your comments to your site but you will need to put something positive to get any significant result from comment traffic to your site.

Any direct traffic you get from those comments are good but compared to the power of do-follow links, they're miniscule. Unless of course you find a unicorn and are allowed to be the first one to post on a super high traffic blog.
