spam teaching me something

I've got a blog, I discovered this blog from SB.
the blog is a WP.com blog skinned with a SB domain.
it does not have askimet set up (and I don't see where I can set it up)
it gets trackback spam daily

I live with it (manually delete the spam) I live with it cause I like what I have and don't want to ditch it (yet)

Here's my question:

the same guy keeps spamming my blog
after a while I looked more closely
the blogs he's using to spam me with is actually TEACHING me something.

I'm not condoning the act, just observing that I did not know these blogs existed.

How is that a good thing?

free incoming links from domains I didn't know where there
they all have RSS feeds (more back link possibilities)

IF this guy is spamming me, he's spamming others

Does that mean the blogs are useless due to them being 'bad nieghborhoods'in Google's eyes?

thanks

If you want to set up Askimet it's very simple. All you have to do is go to your "plugins" and activate the Askimet plug in. It should be there by default. Your also going to have to enter an API key in order for it to work. When you first setup your account you should have gotten an email with you API key all the way at the bottom.

It should look something like this:

Your WordPress.com API key allows you to use services like Akismet @ Stop Comment Spam and Trackback Spam Akismet API Key: 9fcde42b98db

    Hope this helps!!
