Two Companies, One Article

Hey guys, I have a hypothetical question for you.

Has anyone ever submitted an article to a distribution program/site, and included two links - each one pointing to a different company? I can't envision this being a problem for Google so long as it gets past the article distribution moderators, but I wondered if anyone had any experience of this..?

(Yes, I know I should really write two different articles... Its a hypothetical questions)

    I've thought about this also. It would be impossible to know without performing tests, but you should be safe if each site has plenty of other backlinks pointing to them.

    It isn't much different to having two different links in your signature.

    Well, honestly it depends a lot on what else you're doing for the sites… I assume this is 2 client sites that you're talking about.

    From the perspective of Google, there is, of course, no problem. In a vacuum there is absolutely nothing wrong with linking to two different URLs from a single source.

    However, and this is really the biggest risk to me, if one of the sites ever gets penalized for spammy backlinks or something like that, then it makes it much more likely that the other will ALSO get penalized because of that shared link between them.

    Basically, by sharing those links you're creating a footprint. If that's okay, fine. If it's not, then don't do it.

    In addition, if I were your client I don't know how happy I would be about being connected with one of my competitors without any say or consent in the matter. But that's a whole different issue, and not really what you are asking in the OP.

    I don't find anything wrong in this strategy... Google is never concerned, what you are promoting as long as you are meeting up the guidelines.

    And, in general, an article has backlinks pointing to different websites... which is absolutely fine.

    Yes, it works for both sites but it will share link juice as many external links are placed on page those will divide link juice.
