Finding EMDs Fast! What's the best tool or process?

Come on, someone has got to have this process nailed down to an art! Any any thoughts and ideas are accepted and will be highly appreciated!

You should probably wait more than 20 minutes for a response.

What I do is hire people off of oDesk. I pay them a small amount per keyword and just have them do bulk amounts.

Really? I don't find it to be overrated at all. I can rank in EMD in the first three results based on my easy competition criteria in a matter of two weeks with little to no backlinks. Ranking for other keywords with the same competition criteria takes about 4 to 6 weeks and I have to build links. Why would you register a domain such as bestgasgrillsarounddotcom that gets no searches vs gasgrillreviewsdotcom that gets 1k searches? Seems like your generic domain is a waste of time to me since it will get no traffic. We are talking about niche websites btw if your a brander than yeah EMDs are pointless to you.

I do not just target the EMD keyword as the only keyword for the website. I also target about 10 to 12 other keywords that are closely related. I can see how building a site just to rank the EMD can be quite pointless, however, if you diversify your keywords you have a quick ranking solution for one of them ( your EMD which is usually your highest traffic keyword), and 11 or 12 other keywords that will be ranking in the near future! To each his own I guess.

Yeah, that's exactly what I have been doing but at Fiverr instead. What I found is that these guys will come back with EMD's that have a trademark or patent name in the URL. That has gotten kind of frustrating for me so I have been trying to find my own way of doing this. I will wait longer between posts next time

but I did wait longer than 20 min., it was 21 min. lol jkjk

Exactly, so why are you here bashing it if it doesn't even interest you and calling it a "crutch"? The truth is I hate doing Off Page SEO so eliminating this from my process as much as possible is a huge time saver for me hence why I'm interested. I build micro niche sites that in total get a minimum of 10k total uniques a month and this is satisfactory for me given the time spent building, cost of production, and upkeep of each site in comparison to my return on investment. Total traffic value is only relative to the commission/CPC of the keyword anyways. If you get 1000 uniques and your doing adsense with a .50 cent CPC good luck. If your doing 1000 uniques a month on a $5-$7 CPC then hello easy money.

I strongly disagree to this. It is possible for me to rank EMD website to top 1 position in a month or two, without heavy baclinking, if the first 10 spots on Google are not EMDs. It doesn't matter how many backlinks my competitors have, or PR of those sites, I am in a great advantage just because I have an EMD. And if the keywords are good, with 10000 exacts per month for example, I can sure make a good money out of it with adsense.

You might want to check out Long Tail Pro. You can search for up to 5 keywords at once, and it will search for EMD availablilty for each keyword/phrase (even EMDs with dashes between words). It will also show CPC, Title Comp, Exact Matches etc. for each keyword, so you can do your keyword research and EMD search in one shot on one program.

Any time I see EMDs ranking high I think the reason they rank high is not because they are EMD, its because they tend to target the EMD kw in their backlink anchor text

I have an EMD for my beach resort our family owns, for the main kw i want to target
its not even in the top 20 (its a .net)

all the top 10 sites do not even have the kw in the url, much less in the domain and certainly not in EMD

how is that possible if EMDs are so magical

btw my main resort site, with the kw NOT in the domain or url, outranks the EMD for that kw (the .net that I own)

What you "think" and what I know are obviously two different things. You've placed a "magic pill" type scenario on an EMD and that is quite comical. You can answer your own question by analyzing the linking structure of the sites that are beating you as well as the on page factors. But you are experienced and know SEO so why am I even telling you this.

its all onpage and offpage backlinks etc. which is exactly what I have been saying all along

all this EMD stuff is way overrated, the only time they rank high is when the competition has zilcho backlinks and if thats the case I can sneeze hard and get any domain to rank high with a few backlinks

EMDs aren't the be-all-and-end-all.

It is quite clear that Google is going to see the following as pretty similar:
redmicrowave.com
aboutredmicrowave.com
redmicrowaves.com

It is also quite clear just from the search experience of the average user that most of the high ranking sites in most of the searches performed are not EMDs.

My advice is that if you find a good keyword with low enough competition to rank an EMD, it should be low enough competition to easily rank a non-EMD.

I am not claiming there is no benefit to having an EMD, I'm just saying that the benefit doesn't warrant spending several hours searching if you are coming across plenty of decent keywords otherwise.

The search engines are only going to look less favourably upon EMDs as they keep being snapped up and often used with low content quality.

This is just my opinion!

Thats another reason i am not an EMD fan
you are first of all chasing a 1000 search/month term. not good
2nd you are buying an entire domain and installing WP on it (presumably) having to renew it etc etc just for one kw(not wise IM0)
Then people say oh no i try to rank other kws on it..........yes but that defeats the purpose of the EMD the whole purpose of the EMD is to rank ONE kw, (the one you put in the domain)
if you are wanting to rank kws NOT in the domain name, you can do that just as easily with any domain name

Who in the world told you that?

EMDs are best when they represent a category of things, but they can also branch into many long tail keywords, so I have no idea how you came up with that conclusion.

I've seen this argument several times, and honestly, I'm happy for the people that have no interest in EMDs, more opportunity for me :0.

As long as the internet stays in this state with this emphasis on .com, .net, .org, although I typically stick with .com, there will be a lot of value with EMDs.

Sure, in SEO terms, most of the time they provide little SERP value right now, but the algorithms are always changing.

I would take the EMD nursingschools.com anyday over the churned up garbage names people come up with to establish some sort of presence.

However, despite the low SERP boost I have seen exceptions to these rules in the SERPS with many competitive keywords having 1st page EMDs with older domain ages that stick with the big boys even though they have a fairly weak backlink structure.

If you're targeting EMDs that are not taken, good luck with that! :0, Its possible to find some that have true value but very difficult.

Save up your change and invest in EMDs that have age and true relevance. Then build those into authority websites and BINGO, you've struck gold.

The best tool is your own research. I'm sure the free version of Market Samurai has it but I use Micro Niche Finder. When you get a list of keywords, there's a button beside each you can click on and it'll tell you if the .com, .org or .net is available.

I looked into it and that is exactly what I'm looking for! The only drawback I see in all the videos reviewing the service are how there are so few domain names available. The video reviewers themselves even say they have a hard time finding EMD's with this tool, but instead use it for keyword research only.

My tool can generate a list of 30k keywords from 1 seed kw along with SEO Competition analysis, and Global/Local search data, CPC and OCI (commercial intent). It then check for EMD's availability for 1k keywords per query.

Get your notepad out. No, literally...open notepad.

Start a broad search for any niche. Let's say...sidewalk lighting, for an example.

On the first page of your search, scroll down to googles related search. It will say Search results related to sidewalk lighting.

Copy and paste that list into notepad and head over to googles keyword tool or whatever keyword tool you want to use.

Take the best keywords that you find and do a domain lookup first then head over to your favorite domain register and get it.

Rinse...repeat.

There ya go.

Let me be the first to say that after receiving Dennis's top secret formula for how to find Exact Match Domains in bulk USING ALL FREE TOOLS...that I am ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY!

Before I learned Dennis's system, I was maybe able to conjure up 2 or 3 Exact Match Domains that had acceptable traffic after about two hours of work. That was OK but quite slow in my opinion.

Once I implemented Dennis's system for the VERY FIRST TIME...I found 12 EXACT MATCH DOMAINS IN JUST UNDER 15 MINUTES!

All these domains had greater than 1500 local US searches per month, all had over $1 CPC, either .com/.net/.org was available, and some even had 8000+ local US searches each month! WOW!

I have been searching high and low for weeks for detailed information on how to achieve these results, and now I'm set!

Thank you Dennis for teaching me such a wonderful system for finding EMD's. I will never be short on ideas again!

PostionSniper used to be the best tool around to find EMD's. Unfortunately the EMD search part of it stopped working earlier in the month and they are not looking at fixing it so now it's basically useless.....it's a real shame too, I used to get a heap of EMDs using it...

Just a side note: If you are simply looking to find if your keyword is available for an EMD download Domain Name Analyzer free at Cnet. Just type in your keyword and it will let you know which extentions are available.

This is a great way to do it instead of using the availability tools at domain registry companies (I've had GoDaddy and others swipe them out from under me if I left the page).

I love the phrase "no offense" because it always directly trails an offensive remark.

Simply put, if you don't understand the value of having access to this kind of data QUICKLY and IN BULK then you should let your thought processes out of the box every once in a while.

And you are wrong in stating "I go to godaddy.com and search for a domain. There is no other way to do this." There are a multitude of ways to bulk check phrases for EMDs, they were just TOO SLOW FOR ME.

I found a new way thanks to the creation of this thread, and now I can find EMDs at 10x+ the speed I could before...Do I think there's a shortcut for everything as you implied? NO...Did I get the solution to the shortcut I knew was possible but couldn't quite pinpoint on my own? YES.

That is why I love this forum.

And by the way...I have found MANY tools that have made my life simpler through automation that I wouldn't have known existed had they not been discussed in this forum. So what's the harm in asking if something is possible?

If I spend a whole day to find a faster way to do something that normally takes me 3 hours to complete and narrow it down to 15 minutes...Then that is time well spent.

The key to building a sustainable business is creating SYSTEMS. You can then start outsourcing those components. You want to be working ON your business and not IN it.

Most people are simply creating jobs FOR themselves instead of a viable business.

1. Export your keywords from the Google Keyword Tool
2. Dump them into notepad
3. Remove the brackets
4. Copy them.
5. Dump them into a bulk domain search at Godaddy.com
6. Sort and register
7. Done.

This process will take you 5 minutes.

Godaddy has an excellent domain search tool, so what I do is look up domains at Godaddy and then register it on Namecheap
