Used of http and www affects SEO?

Hello everyone. What's the difference if you use http:// and www doing your SEO? I just checked my site's PR and it's forged using www. It's only valid using http:// and it's also forged using http:// www ...

Can anyone of you enlightens me or can give clarification on this. I'm confused.

As both are different url in Google’s eye. If the site get indexed well then I dont find any diff to rank with www or http: .May I am wrong

http://www(dot)yoursite(dot)com and http://yoursite(dot)com are technically two separate pages. Google will only index ONE of those versions. So you should pick one (or check and see which one is already indexed in Google) and then stay consistent. Only build links to the one you pick.

That is true, only one is gonna get ranked. Doesn't matter really and long as your know which one is getting ranked and take it from there. Just my opinion.

Both are treated as different urls in the eyes of google. So its better to choose one of them for link building. I always use url with http and www

Hi both are different according to Google. According to me you should keep only single url with you and redirect other version to current working.

You should set whichever one you like the best as the 'canonical' location and set it up so traffic to one gets redirected to the other. I'm pretty sure google themselves have an article about how to do this.
