Help needed for article spinning question & drip feed.

I'm doing some linkbuilding for my website, and would like to know how much I can spin an article before it goes so silly that Google would consider slapping me.
At time being, I get about 2 backlinks a day I think, and got some spikes on 30-40 backlinks a day (Had some SEO done from a WSO some time ago).
What I wanna target for linkbuilding, is mainly articles, where I plan on outsourcing that, and buying some quality 500 word articles and spin a few times to keep the unique % decently high.
Then I got a question regarding drip feed - what is it? :confused:
I've seen it several times in WSOs "We submit and drip feed xxx articles.."
A guy in another topic said that he build "gazillions of backlinks and drip feed them" Really curious to know how it's possible to build lots of backlinks and keep them hidden for this so called drip feed. How is that possible?
