I just signed up and I have a few questions about links in general.

Is a homepage link with PR4 a good link?

Is an article with anchor text of pr2 pretty decent.

What are contextual links and what should I expect to pay for them.

I use High PR society but I stay away from the homepage links - I have no doubt that they work really well, but I dislike the idea of losing my links if I cancel the service and locking yourself into multiple monthly rented homepage links can really drive up your SEO cost.

    Heya Galves -

Contextual links have content around the link whereas homepage links are just blogroll links. A hundred or two articles lit bitriot suggests is a good way to dip your toe in for not a lot of money. My suggestion is to balance these higher quality links with lower quality ones for a lot of IP diversity. Also, a pricing chart is on the site after you log in.

Just remember that you should have a defined strategy before you start and DON'T "test things out" on your money site. If something doesn't work well then you don't want it to take your site out!

    Good luck!

Not really. A "contextual link" is a link other than "click here" or "www.mysitename.com" and is instead a word or phrase as the link (such as the words "buy pet supplies" as a link to your site). It is a good idea to really make that link "contextual" by putting it in the "context" of an article about the same topic.

A "home page link" *can* be a blogroll link, but it doesn't have to be. Many link-sellers will mention the high PR of the "site", meaning the PR of the site's home page. If your article with link doesn't end up on the home page (if it's on an inner page of the site) than that home page PR doesn't matter much, as your article is on a PR0 page. Many sellers of links will give you a home page link that is in an article on the site's home page, but soon after the article "scrolls off" the home page (they might have, say, 10 articles on the home page, and each new one "bumps" an existing article off the home page on to a low PR archive page).

A really nice "home page link" is one that is in an article on the home page of a site that has a nice PR on the home page, and the deal is that the article will *remain" on that home page for some time (a month, a year, "indefinitely"). A "home page link" that is a blogroll link on a site with good PR is not worth much. A "home page link" that is a contextual link in an article that will stay on the home page with good PR for an extended time is a great link. Big, big difference in how you define "home page link."

Both are almost same. Because the link on the front page may get affected during the Updates.

Basically it depends on the type of blog you have. If you already have lot of backlinks (in thousands) then you can go with PR4 blogroll link or otherwise PR2 link will suit you the best.

I've used it, it's horrible... you can order say 50 contextual links and you'll get MAYBE 5 indexed within the first month, way to slow at indexing and you can't integrate a proper indexing service with it right now, it's annoying.

Best alternative would be to just build your own network. Initial cost might seem high. But it's not that high when you think long term. Things get a lot cheaper. Plus you get to control the links and not depend on a fly by night third party, who's fate of Google assrape awaits.
