Use google.com and search your keyword and if you find some paid advertising about your niche then worth to try.

The competition has a lot of backlinks, but they're not optimized for your keyword. Doesn't seem hard to me, if your page is optimized for the keyword. Also, some low pr sites/pages are up there. Seems doable

Google actually returns the results for "computers", however Market Samurai will still check the title/descrip etc for the word "computerrs".

Type your keyword into Google, and be sure it doesn't give you the following:
      "Showing results for computers
      Search instead for computerrs"

Everything is ok. Google didn't give me search correction.

    Looks like a health niche? WebMD #2 and #3? About.com #5?

Those are pure guesses. I would say go for it. Like Carl said, no site is optimized for the keyword.

Why not just post info about it in the thread instead of a link to your blog..........

If there is authority sites in more than 50% position, avoid the niche.

no one is optimzed for the term, so you can bet that all those backlinks have completely different anchor text as well. I would definately go for it.

Any niche is possible with the right tactics. However, if this is one of your first attempts at SEO than you might learn more from ranking some slightly less competitive keywords.

The latest Panda update is making it much harder to compete against large sites like Microsoft, Apple or HP unless you have a solid SEO strategy in place.
