There is no set time for the old Google dance but even if it is happening you shouldnt just stop building links. Keep on building.

It's going to happen. And right now you're going through an emotional rollercoaster. Keep everything even keel, especially now that you're your own entrepreneur.

Just continue making a lot of content, and build your backlinks. You should diversify your traffic and not solely depend on search engines such as Google. Be consistent and keep going.

One of my keywords ended up being on page 2 and then it danced around for a while. It ended up being to rank 1 eventually and then it got flagged so it reached to rank 6 (which really wasn't anything), and finally (two days ago) it reached back to rank 1. While all that happened, I just continued building an empire!

If you are causing a client's site to bounce around, you should fire yourself immediately and refund anything they have paid to you.

I'm curious, what kind of links do you build then (assuming you have a client)? I mean even my popular mobile phone site was dancing and i never, EVER made a single link to it - websites like Nokia.com and other authority sites linked to me naturally.

Just keep up the good work. It's hard to make the client understand how Google works.

If your site is dancing around so much its because you are putting lousy links to it. People think all this dancing around all over the place is natural because they are all using low quality links. It DOES NOT happen as much with better links.

The last thing you wanna do when your site is dancing is to stop building links. That'll only keep you dancing (or falling) longer

Bad news for you my friend. Because Google dance will not settle down, or you have nothing to do to stop it. All you can do is to avoid your site from dancing around the SERP more often.

Like Mike Anthony has said, it does not really happening as much with better links. So I think we have concluded that you have built low quality links for your site.

Usually i see such dance after any large backlinking campaign. It takes 2-3 days to come back. And when it comes back, it goes to better position.

When there is a change of Google, more or less, many sites should be effected. In my opinion, I felt the same as seoron

I would recommend focusing on more quality rather than quantity. Your client's website will most likely stop dancing and take a more firm spot preferably at the top of page 1 . You need to see some of the higher pagerank sites, and piggyback of their trust to filter it to your client's domain.

See, what you are facing is not Google dance... its mere ranking fluctuation. Let the things happen the way they are happening. You may start with your link building campaign and your ranking will become stable soon.
