Adsense And PageRank

Hello!

I've been using Adsense for about 4 years without any issues.

Recently, I put a third ad unit above the fold on my website's index page.

Is this change likely to impact the PageRank?

        You're asking about actual PageRank or the ranking position of your site in the SERPs?

        AdSense should have no effect on PageRank. That's all about incoming links.

        But always be mindful of your ads:content ratio; a recent algorithm addition by Google apparently pushes down sites that don't provide a good user experience due to the overuse of ads above the fold.

        Unfortunately, when I last checked, their description of this was vague; they didn't say what screen resolutions are used in their analysis and how much of a negative impact it can actually have, and (as far as I remember) whether the whole thing is page-level or site-wide. Testing and common sense may be in order.

          My mistake, I actually meant both PageRank and search rankings.

          Your reasoning makes perfect sense since a high ad-to-content-ratio is of little interest to the user.
