Do you run Facebook PPC ads?

I'm just curious for those who successfully use Facebook PPC ads, how do you make it worthwhile for the long term?

Let me explain more of what I mean...

I would think that after just a few days, CTR would plummet since people will get used to seeing the same ad, etc. unlike PPC on search networks where you would get fresh new leads. Am I wrong to assume this? How do you combat this? Do you just keep targeting new people, niches, etc?

I would think the best way to use Facebook ads is to get people to optin, that way they can be marketed to down the line.

You are right FB ads get burned out in about a week max two. What I do is every other week I change the image (besides split testing). Also pause the ads for a few weeks or a month.

It takes a while to master FB ads. I learned that the best place to direct FB ads is to content or a free offer and never to a sales page.

People are always updating their profiles and liking pages you are targeting so you will have a constant flow of new leads you just have to do a lot more work than Search PPC which is more of set and forget once you found the best keywords and copy.

Had success getting opt ins for free stuff..some leading to sales
I target very tightly, eg only people who like one big name IMarketer living in the US between ages of ....
each ad should be very targeted to improve CTR

I would think trying to get opt ins would be the best, along with rotating images and pausing campaigns every now and then. At least that sounds like the best method so far. Maybe I'm wrong. I've always been more of a Search PPC guy, so this is indeed different.

Google suspended my account for complete nonsense reasons, so I'm done with them.

I hear ya Dayne. That's why I'm slowly trying my hand with Yahoo/Bing's Adcenter... not too bad so far from what I can gather but I just started testing the waters though. I tried the FB ads and rotated but nothing... a click or two here and there if that, no conversions or anything. I think I'm done with them for a good while, again. lol.

You can't beat plain old SEM. It just boils down to FB PPC still being a distraction type marketing. Targeting is really good but you still have to get their attention away from them surfing FB. You're probably better off doing network ads (which is still a longshot from "intention to buy" searchers compared to SEM. The only way FB PPC was ever useful for me was for capturing up front opt ins.

I agree Jason, up front opt-ins and maybe testing may be the only real use of FB ads as they seem to fizzle out quick after the initial launch. I'm going back to MSN/Yahoo PPC.

Why don't you just open up another google account? The search volume btw Google and MSN/Yahoo isn't even comparable.

Can I do that though if one mine has already been terminated? Maybe open one up under a new business name, CC and bank account?

I have used FB ads in the past but not for selling (as I don't believe that that are effective). They are great for building a list and marketing to that list on the back end.

EG: instead of doing a PPC ad "dog collars for sale" I would do a "click like if you love German shepherds" and target dog lovers. Then build a community based on that (throwing in a sales pitch only every now and then)

I am not sure if it is still effective. I was using it about 3-4 months ago to promote a product, it was very hard to make a sell, made some with Facebook, but the conversion was not just excellent and I just stopped this.. But I am sure it would work good for your website/blog/product, etc. if done properly
