Firefox results VS I.E. results different

I have spent a few minutes browsing WF and have not found anyone mention this.
I have to use I.E. for online software that I use for work, it won't work on any other browser...

So sometimes I am on there checking my rankings.

I have just recently noticed that my rankings are different by 2 spots. OK I do not think that is really true. BUT Firefox is showing Ads, knocking me down because of these - YouTube Video Download Wizard Sponsored Links AND an Amazon box.

So I think my ranking is the same , but not my position on the page. I just checked another keyword in a different niche and same bump because of the ads.

Anyone else realize or experience this?

(I read that I.E. is the 3rd most used browser, with Firefox and Chrome very close together at the top 2 spots.)

Thanks for taking the time to read/respond.

Todd

I don't know if I understand correctly, but my assumption is that if your checking ranking just searching your keyword in Google, then you will get personalized results because of the cookies Google uses with your browser.

So if Firefox has one tracking cookie, and IE has another then your going to see different results based on their 'personal' results system.

You should try a different program to track your rankings ( I use SEO Power Suite), but there are many available. Pick a program and stick with it. Rankings are a very dynamic thing, and the mechanism to check rankings is generally different between programs so you will see some different results.

Using the same program consistently will allow you to track your results better.

I agree, you must have been using personalized results, also check whether you're checking ranking on Google or any other country TLD? Because google.com and google.co.uk are going to have different search results for the same term though not by large margins.

Try this URL to have real results and personalized results disabled :

      seach term - Google Search

Note the parameter (&pws=0) at the end.

I don't think Ads plays any part in the 1-10 results that Google shows, but anything is possible lol.

Is one browser or the other logging you into Google while the other is not?

Make sure you are logged out of Google on both and clear your cache.
