How do you analyze competing websites?

I want to start affiliate marketing, but don't know how to analyze the competing websites. Is Seoquake enough?

How can I find the number of backlinks, internal links etc.

    You can try with the trial version of Market Samurai or Free version of Traffic Travis both are excellent for knowing competiting information including backlinks, ranks etc..

    I use free version of Traffic Travis

    If it says it is easy or relatively easy to rank for a keyword, I will go deeper to manually check the top 5, or even 10 sites:

    1. go to majesticseo to check the backlinks
    2. check the page ranks of the sites
    3. take a brief look at the on page seo of these sites

    Competing analysis is a very important thing to do. If you do it manually than it will take more time but it will give you accurate result. Also there are lots of tools available for this. You can use Google webmaster tool and Search Status toollbar for check backlinks.

    I personally use Majestic SEO to check external backlinks and internal links.

    In order to analyze competing websites, I would recommend using I.B.P but it is quite expensive but it will give you all the necessary information to rank well on 1st page on search engines.
