getting difficulty in ranking.......

Hi,
I am doing link building for my site. My keyword is "romantic sms". i have created more than 250 links but didn't see results either in 10 pages. It has been about a month the links are created. Can anyone help me to diagnose the problem ?

keyword: romantic sms
domain: abcd.com(without www)

    After the new Google algorithm, on-site factors are much more important,so without proper on-optimization a site can not get good rank even with 200+ links.

    You need both proper on-site optimization with high quality unique content in the site as well as you need high quality links from variety of sources.

    What type of links were they? Remember SEO is a patience game, you need to build your links steadily and results will follow within several months but as whosin said, you need to improve your site's on-site SEO as well and also add high-quality content - not spun content.

    Secondly, when you build links, are you building them with this corresponding URL (http://abc.com/) or your adding www. before your domain? You need to fix the canonical URL issue as well so Google sticks to one way of identifying your domain when indexing.

      They are all from different sources like profiles,social bookmarking, directories blogs etc.
      The linked URL to my keyword is without www version and the content over the website is unique and high quality.

        Ok, you can find your site in the search results right? Just concerned that those terms aren't moving up?

        Is it a very new site cos you have mentioned that you're doing it for a month? Secondly have you tried varying up your keywords or you've simply built 250 links pointed to one term 'romantic sms' ? If yes then try varying up your keywords as well, treat 'romantic sms' keyword as your most important keyword and regularly build links to it but you can add in 4-5 more keywords related with romantic sms (probably long-tail) -This looks more better and also has a chance of you ranking considerably good on those terms because 'romantic sms' seems a very competitive term and you won't achieve very good results simply in a month for that term.

        Also keep building links on a daily basis, like 10-15 blog comments everyday?

          Are you serious, after reading the reactions in this thread I can conclude that you have a lot too learn still. This keyword is in no way very competitive, actually it's pretty damn easy.

            Agreed, lots of learning to do still but I was talking in the context of his site being new because new sites will take a lot of time to rank for a term with around 1.6m results so that is why I suggested him to target long-tail keywords as well.

        Profile backlinks are worthless. Some of them never even get indexed I have read. You need to write articles with your targeted keywords in anchor text.

    You need more time for getting result. And also 250 is not sufficient number for ranking within 1 month. Concentrate on the quality of content and also do proper on-page optimization. Create backlinks with such pages which have good PR and also in the same niche.

    Well.. 200 links are NOT enough for this keyword.. Also you SHOULD use H1 tags in your website. Build QUALITY backlinks using this keyword, but make it look natural, submit to other websites using DIFFERENT keyword. This way it will look more natural to Google.. And continue building backlinks

    first remember that not all links get indexed. use "majestic seo" to check how many links you had this month with "fresh index" and how many links you have in total with "historix index".
    than check you competition. check how many links the top result have.

    just so you know, this keyword is pretty though to rank for (especially for beginner)
    it has more that 1.5M search result in phrase match (""). so I advice you to start with a keyword with less than 200K search result in quotes("").
    don't forget to track your ranking with some software or with free serp checker (look on google) to get deeper understanding of which link gave you a boost in ranking and which not.

    I really appreciate your participation. I did the link building for "send romantic sms" and achieved very good results. All the links are contextual based(Articles) with very few amount. In the articles i used "www" version instead of non www version eg for keyword "send romantic sms" (www.abc.com).
    For the keyword "romantic sms", i had been using non www(abc.com), but didn't see the results even in 10 search pages.
    When i open my website with www.abc.com, It redirects to abc.com automatically.
    What is your opinion , what to do now plz?

    If your website has indexed with www version in google so now you should fix your website URL from without www to www version.Use 301 redirection to do this job and I hope by implementing good work you will get rank for your other keywords as well.

    Is it possible, while the site is indexed in google without www version, and the links that i have created are with www version. I am seeing the site is on 1st page of organic listings in google for my keyterm "send romantic sms"
    Can you plz tell me is it possible, If yes then what is the logical reason ?

    Please Apply the basic SEO Techniques (Title, Meta Tags, Description & keywords). Then apply the internal link building use text or images. Then for off-page optimization apply these techniques(Social Bookmarking[digg, stumbleupon etc], Social Media[fb, G+, twitter], Article Submission, Forum Commenting and Possible Links Exchange with High PR at the homepage.)

      You need to keep building links to the "without www version", it's not wise to switch in the middle of the road.

      You also need to redirect the www to the non www version in case you don't use Wordpress.

        I think you should follow the all rules of the on page optimization and perform some off page activities also. Off page activities are useful for getting backlinks for your website. Activities like forums posting,blog posting and commenting,directory submission,article submission. They are very useful for increasing the backlinks for your website.
