Hi,

Im thinking about a new niche website.

But the top ranking is like this 1. wiki global (pr5) 2. wiki local (pr5) 3. imdb (pr6) 4. news items. (pr0)

Is this good or bad news, can I pass those easily or not with a few backlinks?

Of course I know I can pass them, but I need to know if its easy do able or not. Its not emd but it has the keyword in the domain.

I have passed wiki sites before with my websites but those where EMD and the PR was PR4.

Anyone has opinion on this, or go for something else?

I would be more concerned about the News item, sounds like your looking at a keyword that will need to have constantly updated content.

Is the wiki a news related keyword/subject?

Thanks for your reply, no it is a person. It sounds strange, but anyway the news about this person is update like once every 2 weeks.

      Does that make it harder?

I suppose it depends on how popular the person is. The more popular the person is, the more sites/pages trying to rank for that persons name/keyword.

Do any of the top ranked sites have Google Sitelinks for your keyword? If they do have Sitelinks showing for the keyword search, that's a sign they could have other top ranked pages that are similar/related to your keyword. Sitelinks for a ranked page/keyword are a sign of tougher competition.
