We Should All Thank Google

For a second I was a little butt hurt that these private blogs are going down, etc. etc. However, I realized the bigger picture.

Internet marketing isn't easy, and there are no easy steps to success. A lot of people relied on these blog networks and that alone would make them rank on the first page; even ranked 1-3.

Google just reminded me of why I'm doing this business in the first place. It's all about hard work. And to not blame others why my business isn't succeeding. A lot of people want to find the easy route to success, and when it doesn't work, they get disappointed and at times give up. And now I under how this business and any other business works, and it's definitely not for everyone. There will be all kinds of obstacles and the beauty of it is surpassing it all. The reward will be much greater.

The great thing now is that there are a lot of opportunities when it comes to creating backlinks and to rank your site. I don't have to sit in the computer and do the same exact thing such as posting on private networks. Its given me that chance to expand with social bookmarking, blog commenting, article dir, forums, link exchange, write my unique articles without spinning them (have fun with it), buying my OWN pr blogs, etc. etc. Things I never did because I was too caught up with these paid services. A lot of these backlinks I can do for free.

Anyways, that's just my 2 cents. Have a great day everyone. Time to get my monies worth!

I understand where you coming from but if you really want to be thankful to Google then you will have to change your entire mindset to traffic generation, because all those methods you mentioned above go against Google's rules.

Any unnatural link is an attempt to manipulate the system according to Google.

I'm definitely no thanking Google for stripping the livlihoods of mom and pop businesses and many service providers out there!

As for me: I will continue gaming the systems coz it's fun

Creating blog comments is against Google's rules?

It is unnatural, so in Google's book yes, it is against the rules. But your site isn't going to be penalized for it though! Google are more aggressive against anything that smells like a paid link.

Call it as you want, but why do you think not everyone makes it to the top? And even when they make it to the top, it doesn't end right there! This is a BUSINESS. B-U-S-I-N-E-S-S. It's not a 9-5. This is where we bring in our creativity, plan accordingly, learn from your mistakes, and WORK HARD.

Google this Google that. Blah blah blah. As far as I know, Google just reminded me of how far I want to go with this business.

EDIT: And if anything, Google also taught me that there are other ways to generate traffic and NOT just by ranking through the search engines.
I like your attitude! This the approach that many need to have in this industry to succeed! I'm sure you will make it far in this industry

Google did this for their own gains. Google is a business. Google doesn't care about you or your blog. They care about the bottom line period.

Uh oh! Did I just make an unnatural link?

Google only knows if it is a paid for link if you advertise it and that is exactly
what BMR, and other Private Networks do!

The only way you are going to rank #1 is to do self-promotion, using some kind of paid link building, whether you buy the software and do it yourself or sub-contract, or paying to be in directories or manually posting your links around the internet.

Google cannot rank sites based solely on the best content because that is subjective and they'd have to visit every page on every site on the internet manually, and re-visit periodically. It is sad that people get dinged for self-promotion techniques, but isn't that what real businesses do anyway?

Advertising on tv, magazines, flyers, billboards, yellow pages, etc. Isn't that what the superbowl is all about? If sites truly relied on organic link building to build links for them, most sites would never be heard of.

Of course not. And that's the beauty of this business. You can't depend on ONE thing. You have to do the extra.

For example: It's like someone being a great musician, but they don't know how to promote themselves, or anything in regards to the business portion. And that would leave them out of luck if that's what you want to call it. Now you see why others don't succeed? It's doing the +1 extra.

That's what so many people fail to realize - they think that if they find a good blog network then it can just be used forever. Anyone you're dependent on a single source like that you're putting your business at risk.

  • For those of us who got comfortable and maybe a bit lazy relying on one way of marketing, we were just reminded why we have to stay flexible and have more than one method that works.
