Hi, so i am doing keyword research for this guy in california. he does pool replastering, and pool repair. so the problem is, he only services the san francisco bay area.

how do i find him good keywords?
when i put his website under the google search based keywordtool, he gets 0 results.

i tried using a keyword geo wrapper to add suffixes and prefixes to root keywords but nothing.

any idea on how i get some keywords for a pool person in the san francisco bay area?

Thanks!! <3

You may go with Google adward paid tools that give better result. Or you have option to go with competitor sites that is targeting at top rank with particular business. Some time it happens when local keywords have less searches but Good business

"pool replastering" and "pool repair" search for these terms in Google and see the websites appearing in results. Watch what keywords they have used in their title tag. You can get an idea about keywords to optimize.

Try figuring out what cities in San Fran he services and try something like this {city}pool repair, {city}pool replastering . This should give you some ideas. Also you should look into getting this guy setup on google places.

That's quite hard, I also tried researching for which keywords to use, but I get 0 results as well for "san francisco pool replastering" or "san francisco pool repair" related keywords. I guess you can target the general keyword terms, or you may go 1 level higher by targeting California-optimized keywords, but emphasize the location that the business is giving service to.

Well, you cannot discover keywords manually... You have to use some keyword research tool. You may try using 'Keyword Country' which helps you in digging out the profitable keywords in your targeted area.

You can and should use the "Google Adwords Tool" to find and acquire some keywords for him...

But, you already have the keywords you should use, which are "san francisco pool repair", "pool repair san francisco" and use variations of those keyword phrases.

Actually, searching for those in Google, there are about 50,000,000+ competing websites... So, it seems as though that might be a great place to start optimizing your client's website.

This has zero to do with choosing a keyword.

        Of course it does...

But, I'm sure you know more about it than me...

        Thanks!

The number of pages that show up in the index when you perform a search is not the number of websites competing for those rankings.

There are not 50,000,000 businesses competing for the term "San Francisco pool repair".

That keyword, in fact, gets 0 searches a month.

When I search for "do pigs fart when they fly" there are 4.8 million results in the index. Are you going to try to convince us that 4.8 million websites are trying to rank #1 for that keyword?

I do not know which WSO you bought or "guru" you are following that taught you that the number of results in the index have anything whatsoever to do with choosing a keyword, but you should really ask for a refund.

            You the man MIKE!...

            Keep up the great work!

Thanks for taking the time to explain that to everyone...

How did you like my input I gave on my Keyword Research Page on my site?

LOL!!! Doesn't this just beg for google places and maps?
Just signup using a relevant description as to what
the man offers. Seems to me that "keyword research"
here is just another way of putting "gaming google."

Since he does pool repair, wouldn't just that a couple of
subwords do? Like tile and plaster of pools?

I think people err by trying to put a site or business in
as many categories as they can think of.

I will start by saying that I know about this niche, but here is what a few minutes of looking the Google results tells me.

I would suggest targeted generic keywords followed locations. Glancing at the top few sites for the keyword --pool repair-- (broad match), their meta keywords are all pretty similar.

They start with generic related words and then include the specific service locations as keywords at the end. At the same time, they don't seem to be combining them in the meta data.

Here are a handful of examples that popped up towards the top of the results and included meta keywords in their headers.

Note: I replaced specific business names with XYZ.

Site 1: Spa Repair, Hot Tub Repair, Pump Repair, Pool Repair, Pool Heater Repair, Pool Filter Repair, Pool Equipment Repair, Beaverton, Tigard, Aloha, Hillsboro, Sherwood, Portland, Tualatin, Lake Oswego

Site 2: XYZ's Underwater Pool Repair Services offers pool cleaning & repair, underwater pool repair, weekly pool service, rust stain removal, rebar, crack repair, and drain covers in the Natomas, Vacaville, Woodland & Sacramento, CA areas

Site 3: Swimming Pools Service, Repair, Spas, Hot Tubs, Remodeling, Renovation, Coping Plastering, Tiling, Apollo Beach, Florida
