Hi guys, since BMR and similar networks are no good anymore, what would be the best way to build backlinks? Can the SEO experts on this forum shed some light on link building softwares (e.g Automatic Backlink Creator) if they are still effective or are they also going down the same road.

Google in particular is leading the charge make automatic or spammy backlink strategies obsolete. They've already announced a new update coming in the next couple months which they've said will penalize sites that are overly SEO'd.

A diverse link profile. What do I mean by that? I mean using a little of everything. This also means empowering your links, both for added link juice and for higher index rates.

I used to do about 4 types of links at most, but the progression of SEO is telling me to use a lot. Comments, profiles (including web2.0), social bookmarks, video links, wiki pages, and contextual links from blogs actually read by people. Get links from high pr sources whenever possible.

One of the larger aspects of this is to get links from pages human visitors actually visit. Links created on pages just for the links are being hit now. Makes sense since search engines need content for the very real people that use its search engine.

Some networks may not actually get hit since I have previously used some that I did receive real human traffic from which created sales. It wasn't a lot of sales, but I don't think google minds the lower number of visitors. Just as long as the pages are created for people to actually look them over to receive some type of value from them.

I'm pretty sure their announcements were talking about on page SEO.

Most of those backlink programs have pretty high subscription fees which make them hard to get in to. For low volume you should look at fiverr. Many people there will run a script that will take care of 5 days worth of backlinking for $5. $1 a day isn't bad, and a lot better than those programs.

Not all the networks are no good. Networks that only allow top of the line content haven't gotten hit at all. If you want to post some well written articles on a strong network, I would look on fiverr for that as well.

    Diversity.

That's all there is to it, really.

Well that, and properly optimizing your pages.

LinkAuthority seems to be more natural and therefore less likely to fail.

    1) Build a 100 web 2.0 properties that link to your site. Then send a bunch of backlinks to those web 2.0 properties with some software/service. I use AMR, among others for this purpose. I export live link reports from AMR and put them through backlinksindexer.com for indexing.

    2) Write guest posts, postrunner.com and myblogguest.com are great for this purpose.

    3) serpinjector.com rocks

    4) forum backlinks with angelas backlinks or the similar

      Hi ambetious,

The answer is not to "diversify", or to move to yet another web spam generating service/tool. You can expect the same fate if that is your plan. Eventually Google will catch on and all your efforts will be washed away, like a sandcastle on the beach at high tide.

The real answer is to stop spamming and start building content that has real value to users. Place that valuable content on your own website, and promote your website by sharing even more valuable content on websites that get real visitors interested in your content.

Build your castles on solid bedrock, not on sand!

        You nailed it.

Any form of cheap seo 'solution' will eventually hurt your website.
The new Google SEO is all about publishing a lot of original, relevant
and somewhat optimised content that readers will love.
That's what Google is rewarding now and will be rewarding even more
        in the future.

The problem is that only those who can afford it will rank.

I've been trying to find out more about this service - but nothing comes up anywhere.
Does anyone know any more about it?

I guess we're all a bit paranoid at the moment, so I'd rather not just jump in head first.
