I'm reading more and more that Google favours relevant content over any SEO methods you may use so don't expect to get a good ranking if you haven't put any effort into making your site unique and more than an auto-blog or 1 pager.

Spend an hour an day writing you own content for your sites and see what happens.

1) Post your links manually in forums that relate to your niche
2) Create adwords account and start driving a decent amount of traffic to it. This will help allow you to build more backlinks because you need traffic to your site
3) Post your links to social bookmark sites
4) Create Facebook site and twitter account
5) Start submitting your site to directories. Both free and paid
6) Make sure your links get indexed. Keep track of the urls you post to and ping them every few days
7) Start using tools or SEO services to create link pyramids, article postings with backlinks, profile links, etc

What is "best" depends on who you are and how long term your plans are. The best overall is to create the very best website you can and get people to link to you on their own. Anything else is basically you linking to yourself and Google knows that.

Voting for yourself is not the kind of endorsement that Google is looking for.

Good luck creating a site that generates enough natural links that it moves up in the rankings or even gets a single eyeball. You can't even get people to see your site unless you do self-promotion backlinking or adwords.

You are so wrong, please stop. If you create awesome content and promote it via social media, and set up your blog with RSS directories, people will see it trust me. And if its good, they'll link to it.

My site is new and I managed to get tons of one way links because of my content. If you have good content people will follow and link to it

You can build links using Web 2.0 properties such as Squidoo and Hubpages. Create articles on these sites and include contextual links to your site including the anchor text for the keywords you wish to rank for. There are many web 2.0 sites you can do this with and they're all big authorities so Google likes them = no harm to your site at all.

Apart from Web 2.0 you can do social booking marking which also works well. These two projects should be enough to get you started for link-building. Remember to vary your anchor text and contextual (in the text) links work best.

Also, continue to add content and grow your site over time as this can also help improve rankings.

ding ding ding! Web 2.0's are powerful. Also do guest blogging. Other then that, create awesome content that people will link to. The best link building method is to get other people to do it for you! Remember, if its an easy link to obtain, then its probably not worth much.

And please listen to this person about varying anchor text. Cannot stress it enough.

hi guys ! i have my own explanation to your question. how to rank in Google?

step#1 example you must upload video directly to you tube
and the 2nd step embed the video onto your web site
the 3 step is embed video on pages with text
and the 4 step is create a video site map
and the 5 focus on long tail keyword
6 create a you tube channel
and the last step#7 build back link to your video.

I can tell you from my own experience of what i did personally. Have started with on page -
- Defining title tags n descriptions and writing on quality content in website
- Content you write in site should be useful to users and be written for them
- then moved on to article submission along with directory submission for building links
- Have then started off with blog commenting as additional thing
- Adding on now is Forum Posting

One need to ensure that he can post either 1000s of link or post few hundred quality links. If your message, article , comment is useful many individuals going to follow you. Spend time on quality rather than spamming

You may follow the following steps to rank in top in Google:

1.Make a list of all possible keywords which you can use on your site.
2.Choose the keywords and search them in google.
3.Open the top 3-4 results for those keywords and check the PR of the sites.
4.Check traffic in google keywords tool.
5.Refine your keywords and choose the ones which has low to moderate competition
6.Do ON page and Off Page optimization.
7.Submit the URL and sitemap to Google.

You need plenty of great and original content. Everything on site, from your pictures to your keywords to your articles need to be well optimized for Google. After that, it's all about backlinks. If you have a certain keyword you want to rank for, be sure to incorporate anchor text into your backlinks.

Quality link building is the only way to rank in Google after the Penguin. Do not go for bulky submission. Always do less submission but in quality websites. Spend some time daily for R&D to search quality websites where you could submit your website in the related niche.
