Just saw this posted on Flippa:

Looks pretty sweet, has anyone tried it? Thinking about making a bid, been thinking about trying to get some passive income.

Selling it off is perhaps a cool idea for its owner; yes.

I can understand people wanting to sell domains/sites like this, at the moment, with Google apparently being on something of a de-indexing rampage against "paid backlinks".

It does rather seem that their value can only decline, really, from here?

I suspect that more and more people are wising up to the greatly reduced significance of "page ranks", too - so having the word "rank" in the domain-name, perhaps understandably, has a pretty negative connotation at the moment, and maybe won't be a great asset? Especially after what's just happened to "BuildMyRank"?

A bit of a red flag to Google, there, people might imagine?

After all, anyone who checks it out for themselves can see, these days, that lower-PR pages with quality content and fewer-but-relevant backlinks are so regularly outranking higher-PR pages with poor content and huge numbers of irrelevant backlinks, in Google's SERP's. It's not as if the fact that quality and relevance are the primary determinants of Google rankings can really be concealed any more.

Add to that the fact that forums like this one now have so many threads and comments from people convinced that their SEO has been damaged by their having bought "backlinking services", contrary to Google's warnings on the subject, and it's perhaps pretty easy to understand why that sort of business model might have rather limited appeal, right now ...

Alexa the term rank does not have a bad connotation in SEO and has most of the time little to do with pagerank. It primarily has to do with ranking your site at the top of Google which will never have a bad connotation. It will take far more than one service with that name in it going belly up to change that positive connotation.

Further your frequent claims about pagerank are actually proven wrong by the buildmyrank situation. The whole point why Google is deindexing services that depend on having High Pr domains is because they work. If they didn't there would be no reason to deindex them - the sites that use them would all be on page 40 where no one was seeing them anyway.

Google is deindexing careless people who don't know how to hide footprints. There's lots of effective networks out there going stronger than ever.... especially since there is less competition right now.

Totally agree, all about staying under the radar and not in open networks.

    ummmm.....

go get your own domain, and buy a FIVERR clone like the owner did for $20, then promote the site in your sig on forums like this, startup cash ($30)

I just saved you a couple hundred

But all seriously, this is nothing other then a clone site, nothing special whatsoever

Yes you do have a point. I'm more focusing on the domain name though. I think it sounds cool and is short/concise. So in theory i'm thinking about keeping the branding but doing something else.

Net profit $12/mnth. Declining income. Just a clone type site that is in the business of linking, which Google is going on a seek and kill mission lately.

I'm curious why, though? You obviously don't see that as the downside, given that's Google's clearly on a de-indexing rampage with sites in the link-selling business at the moment. But why not - what do you know that the rest of us don't know?

I know all about buildmyrank being de-indexed, sure. I'm focusing more on a Branding thing. Do really think a client will have the knowledge about Build My Rank? I'm trying to decide if a client saw that and thinks to themselves "Oh, yea do need to get my rankings up!"

        Know what i mean?

It is a great domain name. If I were the owner of that domain name then I would never sell it. He could build a very large list from his website.

The site is for sale because the payment processor deems SEO services as high risk and is moving away from processing payments for this type of service.

Has anyone found anything worth buying on Flippa? Well certainly not for a few bucks! The only sites I've seen that are worth buying have sold for thousands of $$$. With a bit of intelligence and hard work it's not too difficult to replicate some of these sites that you see for sale.
It just requires you to take action and a lot of patience. Buying a ready made site isn't a get rich scheme for the buyer - only the seller!
