Recent drop in Traffic and 404 Errors

Hi all,

Just had a question. It's looking like my traffic will have dropped by at least 50% when the dust settles.

It's either from the new google changes or from a new site design. I'm not sure. Something weird I just noticed was how the number of 404 errors have grown in recent weeks since the new site was implemented.

It has corresponded almost 100% inversely with the traffic to the site. i.e. 404 errors were falling and traffic was rising, now traffic is falling and 404 errors are rising.

See this screenshot [never mind. I guess I can't post screenshots because I don't have enough posts].

What's weird is none of the 404 errors are actual URL's. It's like people typed them in on their own, which you'd think would happen as you get more people to your site. Just the opposite in this case.

Thanks in advance for the help.

You mention a site redesign. I'd guess it has something to do with that. Have you updated your sitemaps since the redesign? Maybe Google bot is trying crawl the old site.

I have been noticing this problem as well. Since last Friday. I did have an old design and I am hoping Google will sort it out soon.
