i have found a local domain that is expiring and it is a page rank 3. it has expired on the 18th of march and i guess the owner still has pending rights to purchase. how do i make certain that i purchase this? it is a legit company and they are definitely in business and planning to stay in business. How do i make certain that i can purchase the domain(and maintain the page rank, as well as stay away from competing with other auctioneers that are looking at the pr3 and good links) if the owner doesn't renew it on time

      You say it's a local domain. Does it actually include a business name? If so, it's probably copyrighted and this would prevent you from using it anyway.

      It's likely the business owner has simply not realized it's due for renewal, and I've read a few similar reports recently where this has happened and the business owner has demanded the return of his copyrighted URL.

      If it doesn't include the actual name of a business, then it should be fair game for you to pick up. Just check carefully, because businesses often register copyrights on close matches to their registered name.

        I tried to pm this to you but whatever

        Thx for the reply on my post. Can you please direct me to where i can learn all of the details of this segment of internet marketing?

        The other portion that i can't seem to get answers to is how to properly set up your domain for SEO. (lots of contradictions)

        ie:i have a site that will find the domain.com/contact

        instead of www.domain.com/contact

        So is this incorrect configuration?

        ===============

        Also

        If you have 2 sites:

        www.number1domain.com

        and

        www.numberonedomain.com

        What is the proper way to direct this without losing SEO juice? Or is it a redirect or a parked domain that i set up?

        ===================

        Thanks a ton for your help.

        I am doubtful that they copyrighted the business domain name. I could not find the domain name on the secretary of state web domain.

          He just means that if the business is named Awesome Lasers and the domain is awesomelasers.com then they can often wrest the domain back once they get their act together.

          I have seen many domains appear on godaddy auctions approximately a month and a half to two months after they expired. If you found a domain backorder service then that may be perfect for you. Otherwise, just keep checking domain auctions.

    Still have this reply:

    Notice: This domain name expired on 03/18/12 and is pending renewal or deletion

    What is significant about the 30th?

    By declaring in a public forum (in writing) that "they are definitely in business and planning to stay in business" ... you may have a problem from the original owner if they attempt to redeem their interest, put two and two together, and find out who you are. Just sayin'.

    Why waste your time with this, it is very easy to get pr3 on your own sites.
