Website on top of Google, but not many visits - why?

Hi, I have a website (WordPress) that I have gotten to the first page of Google and the top result for a keyword that gets 30,400,000 global monthly searches and locally (U.S.) gets 2,740,000 monthly searches and low competition (adwords.google.com/o/Targeting/Explorer?__c=1000000000&__u=1000000000&ideaRequest Type=KEYWORD_IDEAS), but I am only getting approximately 5500 visits a month. Does anyone know why I am getting such a low number of visits for a keyword that should be getting a lot more? Am I totally missing something? The keyword is "download for movie" and my site is downloadformovie.com

Also, I have another site named downloadsformovie.net which I have not done anything with for months and months. It is a wordpress site and it only has one post on it. It is on the top page of google for the keyword "downloads for movie" which has a global search of 9,140,000 and 1,000,000 locally, and the second page of bing and yahoo.

But, for my first site and keyword above, "download for movie", and the one I do stuff on all the time, as I said it is on the first page of Google, but it is not showing up anywhere near the top in Bing and Yahoo, but the one I have not done anything with for a long time is, even when I search for the keyword for my first site also.

Any ideas on these questions?

    This one's easy.

    I don't know why SEO's don't teach as the VERY FIRST THING to change the search type in the keyword tool to "exact match".


    Always always always use exact match when determining your potential for traffic/ranking.


    "Download for movie" gets 16 exact searches a month. That's why you don't have any traffic...because nobody is looking for that term.


    I don't have any idea about Bing and Yahoo. I have sites penalized in Google and at the top of Bing & Yahoo, and sites at the top of Google with very little love from Bing and Yahoo.


    Who knows...

    Are those (U.S.) gets 2,740,000 monthly searches EXACT match or BROAD match ? I guess it could be BROAD match and that's why you get "only" 5400 uniques/month.

    I can't say why this is happening, but I would suggest doing some keyword research as start to finding out whay may be going on.

      Since the phrase "download for movie" has only 73 exact searches per month globally, it is clear why you get only 5500 visitors per month. In fact, this is a surprising result, since it is obvious that your visitors come to your site by some other searches, because it is known that the first position on Google gets you about 40 % of all monthly searches, so it is here 29 visits per month (40 % from 79). So you get only one visitor daily for a phrase "download for movie". Try optimizing your site for some other related keyword phrases with more monthly searches.

    OMG, I did not know that. I have learned a whole lot about SEO in the last couple of years and I thought I knew a lot about it, but I have never seen anyone say that about doing an exact search instead of a broad search. I can't believe I did not notice that myself. I based my whole site on this keyword getting a lot of visitors a month. I am focusing on other keywords also though such as download movie and movie download, and others and they are starting to get there, but the main thing was download for movie. Well that explains it.     You are so right wally247, that should be one of the first things taught when learning SEO. I have read numerous things about SEO and I can't think of one that mentioned that, and it is something so simple and so important. Live and learn I guess.
