Spamming is the word which troubles me all the time. If I do SEO, is there any chance of getting spam to my website?

Didn't quite understand the question. Will still give you my 2 cents though.

Spam is prevalent all over the Internet in any case. However, when you do SEO for a website, you are primarily looking at attracting the TARGETED traffic which is absolutely necessary anyway - whether it be a product you are selling, a service, a sales page for an affiliate program of yours. Bottom line is that SEO will only add more value through targeted traffic.

The spam which you fear is actually going to victimize your site any ways - whether it be the absolutely ludicrous blog comments, phishing e-mails etc. These have nothing to do with the SEO fragment of getting traffic to your website. You can combat spam through regular monitoring of your site offerings and also, by use of some reliable softwares which fellow warriors here can guide you more about; but be rest assured about the benefits of good SEO..

    Cheers

SEO is safe as long as you are not the one doing the spamming. There is now way of knowing how much spam your site will attract but you just need to moderate it.

There is no relationship between spamming and SEO unless u spam the SEO by using black hat techniques. i.e spam the search engines

Even if you do no SEO, you still get spam to your website. Though the higher profile your site, the more spam it will get, generally.

Also, signature links to your sites on forums tend to attract spam.

SEO is safe but doing a lot of seo works for example making thousands of backlinks daily, is not safe and natural and will effect the ranking of your website on search engines and makes it bad. So always do white hat seo to stay safe.

      Hii,

SEO is safe but make sure you shouldn't post duplicate content on the website and thus make use of white hat SEO technique for increasing the visibility of your business. Good Luck.....

      Thanks

I don't think seo is remotely related to spamming. Of course you can always go overboard and keyword stuff your articles and make hundreds of auto blogs but that's not a wise idea in the slightest. If you follow the basic rules of seo, it's not spamming. You are optimizing your site to be informative for search engine traffic and that's a good thing I think.
