What's more important?

I'm so confused now, and the more I research the worse it gets.

Really what's more important?

An exact match domain? And I ask because the majority of them are gone, even the vague ones.

Or a well done and promoted site with the keywords present in the domain and proper onsite seo?

I'm wanting to get into being an Amazon affiliate, and am using micro niche finder. It seems like the more I crash around with the 2 the more.... What? Brain locked? Stymied? Out right befuddled I'm getting...

I have some topical ideas about what kind of products I would like to promote and sell. But this is micro niche marketing no? Should the domain name be based around a few products? Or should it be topical about a large topic then make individual pages on the site promoting those individual products?

Should it be several sites all tying together?

I know.. I know.. Nobody said this would be easy, but I been a couple days looking and can't seem to land myself on anything.

I'm thinking just buy a domain and get started. But I would at least like to have a cold chance of success at this..

Newb frustrations are all over me

I don't think anyone but google themselves knows how much weight an exact match keyword domain gets but it seems to me it carries less weight than it used to.

The most important thing is that the domain is a keyword (or form of it) that is searched by people in google a decent amount of times per month. That is if you're going for SEO and want to be discovered via Google and other search engines. If you are going to include other words in the domain, it's best if they are at the end of the domain. Do not use hyphens (-) in your domain name unless there are no other options.

it doesnt really matter if your keyword is included in domain name or not.
the most important thing is how you optimised your site for search engines,
i have one site, the domain name is thousand miles away from all the keywords but i did optimised it well and have added lots of content to it and trust me i do get thousands of unique visitors from search engines every month.

I see your websites in your profile is kidcarsonmedia.com. Would kidcarsonlikes.com or something similar, where it's not product specific but instead focusing your SEO on your inner pages.

    Just a thought.

I think exact match domain is overhyped as well. I'd just go for something around your niche then create as many articles with long tail keywords. If you write good articles with proper seo you will be fine.

    Just get started!

Whats important is creating a good website with helpful content with good non spammy backlinks.

Do that and it doesn't really matter what the domain is.
