Is this a good SEO Strategy?

Total newbie here

I've a busy website that has a URL that has no relation to the subject matter of the website. It's 4 non de-script letters.

I want to market parts of my website to several different google search phrases, and I was going to build a new site for each of these search phrases e.g.

x gets 2000 searches per month. My plan is to make a new domain showing just one a landing page named e.g irishfiddleclasses.com and have all the links and navigation pointing to the main domain.

I was planning to optimize the text etc so that x would show up whenever 'x' is searched in google.

Is this a mad idea or is there something simpler that I could try?

    So based on what you said, you want to know if it is better to build one branded authority site or multiple smaller targeted sites. Well the answer depends on if the topics are at all related. Authority sites with alot of content seem to be performing well these days. And will likely perform better in the future. So this would be a pretty good route to go.

    Just a little bit of advice, I would not share my niche and website in a public forum. If I was you, i would remove that immediately.

      I have built a site that has a wide array of services, but it's so wide that the site is not being ranked in google for some of the obvious search terms I want to target.

      I'm a bit stuck as to what to do tbh.
