Some website owners do not aprrove your comments if you type a keyword instead of your name, no matter how valuable your comment is.
My question is,
Is it still worth for SEO if you write your name without including a keywor?

It's pointless leaving a comment if it isn't going to get approved. 90% of the time you're comment won't get approved if you use keywords. Therefore - it makes sense to just use a name - 90% of your comments will get approved instead of the other way round, and you'll get the backlink

It'll also add a bit of diversity to your link profile - which isn't a bad thing.

So you say it's still a valuable link for SEO

Yes. Google seems to be coming down on anchor text "spam." So it's a good idea to diversify your anchor text a little.

It's a complete waste of time. I comment to build a relationship with the blogger.

    Commenting for backlinks is spam!

Absolutely untrue. Blog commenting has worked for a long time and will continue to work for a long time. it adds link diversity and anchortext deiversity both of which are even more important now than they ever have been.

There's no big issue on making your name as anchor text. It's only another way of diversifying your links. There are still some blog owners out there who approve comments with anchor texts.

About Tarik's suggestion, you could do it as well. You could build relationships with bloggers so that you can have a better reputation for your site. In time, you will surely earn the price of this method.

Or, at the very least, a variation of your anchor text. For example, "Jim From Dog Training Advice," or "Jim, The Dog Training Guru."

      etc.

ok I am seeing many debate is going on this issue. I want to clear something:
First blog commenting brings traffic to your website but not quite it's linkbuilding process. It's a normal procedure. Suppose you comments with your keyword and a URL. Then blog admin might check your website then decide whether to approve or not. But his visits to your blog counts even though he will not post your comment.

    I completely disagree with dracoboar.

Keyword based comment is always helpful for seo. But if any blogs don't submit your comments then give your name with the url.

this is exactly the same point i made, it adds link diversity and anchor-text diversity. What I said was that the assertion that commenting for a link is spam was untrue.

Blog Commenting strategy is still quite advisable in SEO to rank well in leading search engines as if you found any no follow back link, then even search will be considering it some how back link which can be seen at web master tool. Wish you good luck!

if it's possible to use the a href within the comment body, mention your keyword there (assuming your commenting on a blog relevant to your keywords)
Google sees comments as content, and the more people participate in the conversation, the better

Any research tools available to easily source niche specific blogs? Google Search tips? Firefox plugins?

      • Blog commenting works as long as you leave useful comments. Even if you can't include the keyword that you want to target, people will see your link and click on it (if they find your answer helpful). Additionally, you will get relevant backlinks to your website or blog.
