Hi,

I am running a small business and am trying to get my website to rank on certain keywords. But I find that while I have some presence on Google.com search I do not list on Google.co.in ( India Search )

I used to rank on India seach engine earlier : about a month back

This is essential for me as the keywords are of the format :
keyword cityname

My current ranking for keywords are :
Keyword Google.com Google.In KW1 68,144,328,329 NONE KW2 69,210,346,347 NONE
Ranking checked on : www(dot)seoserp(dot)com/web_tools/google_top_1000_serps_checker(dot)asp

I know it is not a high rank but I am not sure if I should even move forward with off site seo if my site does not list on the search engine I want it to.
Getting a Google.com listing for my keyword is virtually useless for me. Google.co.in is what matters as most Indian users are automatically redirected to Google.co.in when they type Google.com

I am running the website on wordpress, taking pains to ensure good onsite seo, did some directory submissions, use SENuke to do a few blasts.

My theories :
1) I thought may be the SENUKE blast was affecting the ranking of my website as I was doing it once or twice a month. But I guess if it were to effect my ranking I should have been kicked out of google.com first
2) The recent change I did to the website about 2 weeks back was adding geo tags to my website. To mark the location of my city. This appears on all pages of the website.
3) Google dance ? Why would Google dance only on India search
4) My website does list on India search for my domain name.
I have the top 5 spots on India search for my domain name. So the site is not blacklisted from the Google India search.
5) I am runnning Adwords Campaign on these Keywords.I thought while I gain ranking it makes sense to tap visitors. And the response to Adwords made me feel that I should really go for the top ranking. But I am not sure if this should in any ways be responsible.
6) The content is original. There is no duplicate content on my website.

How can country listing be so different from Google.com Listing.

I am really at my wits end. I hope some Expert warriors can guide me regarding this issue.

If you want to rank a keyword that's indexed in the google.co.in engine

They have different index's so that's something to think about.

It is possible that you were slapped on a certain keyword Google tends to do that if you don't vary your anchor text enough when backlinking so the keyword you were spamming they'll slap you down

    Hey black4eternity,

Is your site hosted in US or India?

    Cheers

I did think about that and in the SE nuking there was some repetition of anchor text. But I barely have about a 150+ links coming into my site through SENuke. So I am not sure. But then how can I list on Google.com for the same keywords is my question.

Different indexes I agree. But for another site that I have for similar keywords it is ranking on say x position on Google.com and about x+/-10 on Google.co.in That I guess means that the variation is not huge.

@Yeeee Ha - My website is hosted in the US. But as I said I have another site with similar keywords hosted outside India. So I doubt that alone can be the reason. I do believe it should affect my ranking to some extent but suddenly dropping out of top 1000 for the keywords is very odd.

Also, I wonder is there really a huge difference in factors for ranking on Google.com and a Google country search like Google.co.in. It would be a pain if it were so.
