Google Keyword Tool Question

Hi All
I have a quick question re: the Google Keyword Tool that I am hoping someone can answer for me. I did a search to see if it had already been answered but it doesn't look like the question has been asked before and if it has I apologise.
My question is about the local monthly search results for an exact keyword search.
if I specify a certain country such as Australia where people can use either Google.com or Google.com.au as their preferred search engine....so are the local search results showing people that use Google.com as their search engine in Australia or people that use Google.com.au (Google Australia) as their search engine or are the local search results a combination of both Google.com and Google Australia.com.au?
I am trying to get keyword search results for Australia wide only .... and am trying to figure out if I can use the global search results that come up even though I have specified Australia only as my location ( which I assume I could do if the results are from Google.com and not Google.com.au) or if I have to use the local search results ( which I would have to do if the results are from Google.com.au)
