I know I am probably going to get a load of 'you can't put an actual price' on it'. But what would you say one PR1 backlink is worth (either for a 1 time fee or rented?)
And also how much a PR 2 link is worth.

If anyone think it's relevant, lets say the backlink is from a site that is semi-related to your content.
Also I typically go after keywords with under 200,000 competion and most under 100,000 in case that is relevant.

Thank you.

I wouldn't put much if any value on anything below PR3.

    A pr1 link would run about 5 dollars a month. with a pr2 between 5-10/month.

Any Pr backlink will help your site. I would try to get a backlink that is relevant to your website.

You can either contact other webmasters in your niche and over some money per month for an anchor text on a certain page with PR

    or

You can go to linkadage.com They have a bunch of links for sale.

I would avoid much of the so called PR networks on these seo forums. We all know what happened to BMR and others. Most of these networks buy expired domains with PR and then they lose the PR after the next update. So You want PR backlinks from actual websites. PR backlinks still work very well.

Another thing I would try is to build several Web 2.0 with unique content about your niche and hire some people from here to build Bookmarks, High PR comments and profile links to the web2.0. This well actually create your own network of websites with PR. You should be able to create several pr2 or even 3 with that.

Thank you for the information - I will check out that site.
Does the web 2.0 site actually have to achieve a PR of at least PR1 for this method to be effective? I ask this because my main site - (which was getting 250 traffic a day before G went after the PR blog networks and so ranking quite highly) never got PR1... I just don't see how I'd manage to get a squidoo lense to PR1, at least not quickly. Will having say 20 backlinks to the squidoo lense help even a little bit, or is this to sort of thing that you won't get any results from unless you hit PR1?

    $5 a month for a PR1 link and $10 a month for PR2 sounds just about right.

Very, Very difficult indeed to put a price tag on what you have asked for! But yes- I feel $5 for a PR1 link and $10 for PR2 is reasonable in my opinion. Yet, if I were in your place, I would take these as benchmarks only for mental evaluation purposes - not in the literal sense.
