Target Keywords

Hi everyone. Thanks in advance for any help. I have a home improvement site in NC. I get about 700 visitors a month to my site. I convert very little of the traffic. I have advertising in print etc that seems to get all of my traffic that converts to leads. I have tried PPC in the past which was set up by myself, and then an internet marketing company. I invested about $2500 in to SEO, but I checked my backlinks, and I only have 2. I have been maintaining a blog and social media sites. I can type my URL in to the search engines, and I still don't show up until the 3rd page........if at all.

Right now, I am trying to target some keywords, but I am not getting enough information when I narrow the search to my market cities on google keyword tool. Any ideas?

    You should create a sitemap and submit it to web masters'. And for keyword research; you can check out the impressions page and find out which keyword is working how well... from here you can choose the target keywords.
