Wordpress SEO Plugins - Do They Really Matter?

I don't think that it's really necessary to use wordpress seo plugins as it's not that hard to put your own onpage seo tags in the html. Just wondering what some of you have experienced for yourselves.

Have you ranked well just by implementing your own seo onpage tags without the use of SEO Plugins?

If you have the technical skills, then no, it is not strictly necessary to use SEO plugins. However, while I could spend my time re-developing the code to match what some plugins automatically, it makes it much easier to use the work that has already been done.

I use All in One SEO, and it takes care of URLS, canonical tags, access to metatags, page titles, etc. It makes it trivial to do what I need to do.

I also use seopressor to give me quick calculations about on-page content.

The end result to googlebot is the same. Its about making my life easier in doing the things I need to do.

The world of plugins is VAST. Because of the recent Google updates, I'd be extremely wary of using the automated ranking/posting/backlinking plugins right now.

  As the above guys say it saves so much time to have the plugins do all our heavy lifting for you. Just remember that if you load a lot of plugins they can slow the loading times of your website which will have a negative effect on your Google rankings.

  Plugin can help our work, but now need to be careful. Choose the plugin that is really effective help to our work but it is safe from the possibility of conflict with the rules of Google. There is the plugin that violates Google's SEO rules.

Seo plugin can link the keywords present in the post to the corresponding relevant posts, pages, tags and categories. Also it can help to increase the blog page views per minute or you can say can increase the page views per visit.

Everyone says wordpress is SEO friendly. When I hear this I cringe. It's not that I don't think WP isn't good for SEO and that there are lots of plugins that will help the SEO process. It's just that none of it matters if the person creating the site doesn't know how to execute proper SEO. So in short, just use what makes sense and helps accomplish whatever you're trying to do.

  Wordpress SEO Plugins work in the sense that they help to optimize your WP or post through meta desciption, keywords and tag. At the end of the day, no matter what plugins you use, what is most important is your website content. It must be of good quality and unique for Google to rank your WP.

Plugins are suppose to make your site building more automated. If I can use a plugin that can save me 10 minutes a day on my site, I want it!

You wouldn't hand-write a novel if you could type 100 words a minute.

Plugins save me hours of time. Time to find more plugins...

I don't believe the SEO plugins are needed. You really don't need keyword stuffed URLs to rank.

For newbies to SEO, Wordpress SEO plugin is helpful, if you are experienced then you may not need but it does lots of automated things which you can't do manually.

Like using description, keywords from your posts, url normalization, using tags as keywords etc.
