I'm not sure if this thread belongs in this section of the forum, but I will answer it anyway

Being in the SEO business myself, I have had a lot of cases of websites going from nowhere to the top of the rankings, for targeted keywords and otherwise. The success rate is quite high.

I believe the trick is to combine quality content with quality backlinks. Nothing should be rushed, it should be a natural process of creating good quality backlinks to your website. Spamming the internet with your links on poor, mediocre or even good quality websites is going to have an adverse impact, I am sure you know.

I think there is no debate on onsite SEO practices these days, so if you just stick to the standard procedure involving titles, keywords, tags etc.

A person can have many experiences while working on the SEO. Firstly the page ranks, which worries a person the most. It is such a thing which if increased gives relaxation to the user but if decreased then panics a lot. The second thing a person experiences is the traffic upon which alexa ranking is categorized. The traffic also becomes more or less in a website, therefore a person should keep perfect and updated contents. The most important is the thing when a person finds his website amongst the top page ranked sites.

One of the most helpful tests I've run was testing the effectiveness of RSS feeds and Linklicous for indexing back links over a 3 month period. What I discovered was that RSS feeds and Linklicous had about the same effectiveness at indexing links as doing nothing at all.

My advice to all is to STOP ASKING AND START DOING! Over the years I've gotten good advice and bad advice but I never really knew until I tested thing myself. This goes for ranking, backlink sources, content, offline marketing, PPC and everything else in life. Its quite addicting reading what other people are doing. But fight that feeling and start doing it yourself!

Well, almost I have got success with all the SEO projects which undertook in past. But, what I experience is, We cannot simply adopt a pattern or same strategy for all keywords, the working pattern or the strategy differs based on competitiveness and current position of the website for the keyword.

    SEO:
    1. First rule: follow the Google rules
    2. Second rule: Don't believe everything what google says =)
    3. Third rule: Read a lot (SEO methods, backlinking tactics etc)
    4. Fourth rule: NEVER implement the EXACT tactic you've been reading about. Be creative and make some twists.
