Google's thoughts on advertising

Yeah I've always thought that was messed up of them lol... Guess they don't count...

Some of time Google doesn't show actual results which we wanted but I think, this things happen due to Google working on search algorithm.

Yeah, so much for "don't be evil". It's all nonsense really.

It's the same if you search for anything lucrative. Check out water coolers as well. Google knows full well what makes the most $$$$.

The results you are getting for the keywords are from ecommerce or product websites. These are not advertisements. Google stands on advertisements the way it used to.

You make a very viable point in my opinion.

These are surely advertisements and there for pure profit. This is a prime example of DO AS I SAY not AS I DO, type thinking.

While we are at it how about the AdSense Content Policy, which has to be interpreted and you have to read between the lines. They don't want their users linking to a whole variety of different types of websites, yet THEY LINK to such sites in their results and show ads on the site.

Sites with Google ads may not include or link to:

Pornography, adult or mature content
Violent content
Content related to racial intolerance or advocacy against any individual, group or organisation
Excessive profanity
Hacking/cracking content
Gambling or casino-related content
Illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia content
Sales of beer or hard alcohol
Sales of tobacco or tobacco-related products
Sales of prescription drugs
Sales of weapons or ammunition (e.g. firearms, firearm components, fighting knives, stun guns)
Sales of products that are replicas or imitations of designer or other goods
Sales or distribution of coursework or student essays
Content regarding programs which compensate users for clicking ads or offers, performing searches, surfing websites or reading emails
Any other content that is illegal, promotes illegal activity or infringes on the legal rights of others

Nothing personal Tim. I actually learned a few things
from you here that have paid off.

When walking into a restaurant, knowing you are going
to order a steak, are you miffed that the menu lists
drinks, dessert, seafood, salad? Or that on the table they
have placards advertising their "club" or specials? I mean
sure, all you wanted was a friggin steak!

You can adjust your ad settings. I do believe you can even
do some internal tweaking to your computer to block
the ad server. Iffy proposition, as google uses quite a few
ad servers. Not impossible. Blocking ads on other sites is
really easy.

When watching the Super Bowl, do I not know that I will see
ads? I just want to watch. Well, I can walk out of the room,
turn the volume down, or turn it off and wait. However,
if I choose to watch the Super Bowl on Fox, I know I
will see ads. Plastered all over the place, even during
the game. In fact, they will give me ads about programs
to watch on Fox, even though I just want to watch the
friggin Super Bowl!

However, you don't have to watch the Super Bowl.

You don't have to use google to search.

Most of the stuff we do online is free, only because of the ads.
I'll take a few ads.
