I'm So Sick of Hearing about Link Bait
- SEO |
People! Most of those who are building smaller sites that are designed to rank for keywords that have potential to earn coin meaning that if they have a low CPC value also have high traffic potential so they make up for it in volume or they have high CPC value and low volume so each click banks. Or they have both high traffic and high CPC, but that's harder to do.
The bottom line, though, is that most of these niches are just plain BORING! This means people are not interested in the subject matter enough to link to anything you come up with. Let's think about it:
Raw Milk Site - I happen to think raw milk is uber-healthy. Mike over at Natural News.com had this nice infographic drummed up which goes through all the reasons why dead (pasteurized) milk sucks and raw milk rules. It's INTERESTING even to people who are not healthy nuts. Interesting enough to link to. You can check it out here: Health Ranger releases raw milk infographic comparing fresh raw dairy to pasteurized homogenized dead milk
now let's think about...
Michigan CNC Jobs - people who type this in are interested in getting a job. The click value might be high even though the traffic is low. Considering the big auto-based economy in Michigan and the fact that companies here need CNC workers, let's say there are enough people typing this in so that it has the potential to earn $1,000 p/month. This really isn't the type of think people are going to link to. You can make a fancy infographic up but there's just not a lot of people who are going to link to it.
I find that there's 20x more of Scenario B than there are of Scenario A but people still talk about link bait. Anyone can create link bait if their site is centered around celebrity gossip but if your site is about hemp dog collars...that's another matter.
