All of this made sense until today..... Checked the serp again this afternoon to see were all this dancing was going to land me and I am getting outranked for my keywords (local search "carpet cleaning my city" by some idiot who literally wrote one article and then spun it 300 times changing the city name each time. Everything else is word for word the same.

I just don't understand, I thought spun content was one of the things they were after here? I can only assume that maybe those were the first of his pages to index after penguin?

    There are many examples like this. In my opinion bing is a much better search engine now. Someone should get fired in Google Now :rolleyes:

      But seriously, I have been using their search engine and it is pretty cool. They actually give you reward points for using them...maybe I can get an xbox just for searching on their engine! lol

    Dont worry man. Boycott Google, go for Bing and Yahoo after all people want more relevant stuff and which Google Failed to provide in this Update. Their adwords will be very much appreciated now as they don't love SEO now they Love $$$. Quite strange things happened to a friend of mine for his keywords. Some filthy websites come up and some BLOGGER blogs were there with 0% quality in the top 5 results.

      I totally Agree with you Matt. The same stuff happened to me in the last week. I read a blog post at one marketing blog about the master plan of Matt Cutts. I don't know what is going on.

    Yes that competitor is spinning junk crap....but he is getting link even though they are JUNK.

    You could beat him out by doing some good link building

    Funny you should mention bing, I just took a look at it and i have like spots 1-3 for all my terms, I just wish people would use it. I supose there are some IE folks out there using, but the problem is my sites only look so so in IE (Im kidding, they look good, but I hate the idea of marketing to IE users)

    Actually it looks like for the content spinners it was a brief respite. My guess on this jackass is that of his 300 spun landing pages, they ranked well until the rest were index with the new algo change.

    I did not benefit from it, but I really didn't take to much of a hit, I think i got put in the penalty box for a pres release the day before yesterday because my main landing page dropped a spot or two, I would expect it to rebound. I took a hit on another domain right at the begining of all this and that site is back with a vengance.

    You are absolutely correct that I need to up my link building, but the page I think you checked is just a small landing page that I threw a forum sig at, that town is stupid easy to rank in, so I don't worry to much about it. If you check the one for Atascadero, that is more of a true idea of what my link building looks like.
