broad match vs exact match query

I am following the Adam Short way to discover a profitable niche..(he has three simple articles that seem common sense and logical to find these niches).

I satisfy his 3 criteria for a profitable niche I have found following his 3 posts to the letter...

-I got 135,000 full vol searches on top 10 keywords (minus duplicates)
-I got PR average rank of 1.7 for the top 3 keywords.
-I got forums talking and questioning the topic all the time, 4 magazines write about this issue as heading is even on front cover etc..(but NO click bank products on this subject)...but the market is massive and people spend loads in this market, so I don't have a gravity statistic but can go on Amazon, forums and magazines as justification.

There is an extra 'MONEY keyword' article by Adam Short and how to find if a keyword is profitable or not. My problem is when I apply the phrase match to the first few keywords they fail terribly against the competing pages in quotes....but if I use broad match, they are JACKPOT keywords...this is really frustrating me..

Can anyone tell me if I can still go into this niche with my own website and product...or is it a no go because of the poor 'phrase match' to competing pages? Going insane with this market research stuff!!

Much thanks for any clarification.

Any help would be most appreciative.
