advice to get to number 1?

Hi,
Im on rank 37 for my website using my main keyword. I have got 16 backlinks showing in SEO spyglass. First page has got pr3-pr6. PR6 is position 8 and its wikipedia. Was wondering how to boost upto number one. Iv been doing manual web 2.0 and high pr autoapprove blogs. Any other suggestions

    more backlinks, social bookmark links and patience :-)
    maybe also some internal pages linking to your page with the targeted keyword. did you do on site optimization such as h1, h2, etc?

      haha, exactly - I don't what we're supposed to do now. it's like Google is saying - "don't worry WE will decide what goes to Page one, regardless of how much Link building you do".

      You need to keep patience. You can't get it instantly. May be not in few years also. Do SEO properly and keeping in mind the latest updates by Goolge.

      Follow the basic rules of SEO.. Surely you will get success.

    I would suggest you to download the free trial version of market samurai and analyze their seo to see how tough the top 10 are. Judging by the PR you stated and Wikipedia is up there too with them which means your targeting a medium-high difficulty keyword.

    Yes, you rank with your current backlinking methods (web 2.0 & blog comments) but sooner or later you will be like most of the others here ___ about Penguin because their backlinks aren't diversed enough and together with their anchor texts.

    If is it wordpress blog, then you need either seopressor or easy wp seo plugin to ensure your posts and pages are well optimized. Look for more quality backlinks and do them but i would advise always do the backlinking yourself due to Google penguin

    Build your own private high PR blog network. You can do it for less than $100 dollars. Ad some article/web 2.0 marketing with quality content. That'll get you some high authority links and should significantly improve your Serp position. Whatever you don't take shortcuts. Do SEO the right way and it will pay off.
