Penguin pat on the back

Hi Guys,

With all the talk of the latest Google update happening on here I thought I'd post some of my thoughts / findings to see if it helps shed any light on what's happening.

Firstly, I don't manage a lot of sites, but the ones I do have seen an increase in position on Google. One site which is for a music group focuses on several keywords which include local towns / villages for which I've made several individual pages for. 16 of the 18 pages are in the top 10, most in the top 5 and pretty much all of them have seen a 1-3 position increase over the last 7 days.

Another site I've just launched which is a restaurant directory for the local area surprised me the most. At the moment it has 3 entriess on it (still playing around with the layout and content) but there is published home page. It's just over 300 words and was optimised using clickbumpseo plugin for wordpress. It has an exact match (hyphenated) domain name. This has been sitting at number 16 for a few days now. It's got 1 page of contents, no adwords, no advertising, no other content at all.

I'm not sure what has happened but the penguin update seems to have worked in my favour. The clickbumpseo work was completed on the music group website and it is rated at 90% inside the plugin. It doesn't seem that Google is classing what I'm doing there as negative SEO at all?

Strange, but that's my findings. I hope that other internet experts on here realise that once the dust has settled, there will be NEW opportunities for us. If we all keep ahead of the game, we'll all pick up new work and new clients that are being left behind by other SEO companies.

Good luck everyone, very interested to see what results come though over the coming weeks.

Puck

I am on the music group site but only with 2 phrases. Wedding band and wedding band midlands. Saw another 1-3 position gain this morning on 4 of the key phrases.

okay, good, see if you can add at least one more to that and then be sure that you are diversifying by linking the inner pages as well

I'm sorry but what exactly does this post have to do with Penguin?

You have 2 websites and nothing happened to them. Why did we need to know that?

Hmmmmmm, strange that you'd make this comment. What does this have to do with penguin? Well, my statement about how it has given ALL of my sites a pat on the back and referring to those gains on 2 of my sites would seem relevant don't you think? Did you spot the part when I talked about consistent INCREASES in positions? Details on what is in the content of sites bucking the trend and information on the SEO plugin I'm using and how it is still relevant? A new site only a few days old ranking (and still ranking) in the top 10 with very little content and remaining there?

Perhaps you should re-read the post and see if you pick up on the information in there.

It seems that way. I'm guessing fiverr and seoclerks won't be far behind with penguin friendly offers.

    Hi Puck246

Your site rise up perhaps because those in front of you drop due to penguin and not because what you did move you up

    Just my 2 cents

Glad to hear you came through unscatherd.

I manage about 50 sites right now and although one was hit the 3% loss in income was easily made up for by the other sites increased rankings.

The problem with penguin is its capability to be manipulated and exploited with negative seo.

We have seen garbage links destroy a site, we have seen to much exact match anchor text destroy a site.

What happens when negative seo services combine the two to attack sites. I believe this will be the true legacy of penguin.

People also assume htis is just an IM issue but we are coming into a political season and if you dont think political sites and information sites or news articles wont be attacked I think you are being nieve
