How can I increase my websites traffic.
What kind of SEO and SMM works are needed for increasing traffic.

I need 500+ unique visitor per day.

Getting 500 visitors per day is not that hard if you have some knowledge and put up some work upfront.

Here is what i suggest:

Participate in social networking like facebook, twitter, myspace e.t.c
Optimize your site/pages for Organic SEO and build back links.
Use PPC, i recommend, Adword, facebook, microsoft adcenter, 7search.
Participate in forums related to your niche.
Banner ads on top sites related to your niche
Social bookmarking
Guest blogging
Blog comment e.t.c

You also have to make sure that how many searches of your keyword and you can optimize your keyword to get visitors from search engines for long time, getting referral traffic is short time solution, when you stopped working your traffic would also stopped and they are also not too targeted.

But visitors form search engines are very targeted to your site because they have searched the website with the purpose and most likely they would want to buy any products and services which you offer on your site.

hmm, in your signature you have SEO, so, you should aware that SEO is one of the best method, specially Google SEO is better method to generate more traffic to a website. However, hope you are aware about current Penguin

Other than Google, you can target Facebook, Twitter and the latest & fast growing Pinterest to get more traffic....

Looking at your sig, you mean those high quality links from Bangladesh are
not working out?

For 500 uniques a day, it will take more than a forum post.
But if you read this forum, have patience, do some hard work,
it could happen.

Or, you could use a variety of paid traffic methods.

Can't say SEO is better, 100%, but your reply makes some sense. Sometimes
SEO is better at getting targeted traffic, as opposed to mindless.

It takes a lot of work. I would say the absolute best way is to write lots and lots of content. Even if you don't rank highly for a short keyword, you will get traffic from long tail keywords.

  Facebook definitely works if you have an account with several thousands friends or a fan page with thousands of fans, then you will get free traffic quickly. If you don't have an account with many friends, you can get free traffic as well if you can use your account properly in facebook.
