Which is the best blogging platform?

Both of them have great abilities but wordpress has more plugins, themes and its easier to customize for many special purposes. I myself prefer to use Wordpress if i want to host it on my own domain.

Hi...very good question. I've personally used both and a few other blogging platforms as well. I have been publishing on Wordpress as my primary platform for the past 3+ years with great success.

As someone has so wisely said in another response, Wordpress has so many plug-ins and tools that allow you to customize and set yourself apart from other blogs.

There are also a lot of great free lancers who can help you create great customization. In fact, you can find a lot of people right here on these boards who have tremendous knowledge about Wordpress and will help or take paid projects to help you.

The Wordpress community is also very good and helpful.

Blogger is a good blogging platform, but I personally prefer Wordpress.

I think Wordpress has more room to play with and it has great plugins, as well. Very customizable, indeed. I did have a blog on Blogger but I don't know if you can put your Google Analytics code in it unlike Wordpress.

Wordpress would be the good starter for you.

There are lots of themes/framework themes that you can customize for your blog. You can install themes that make your blog unique.

There are lots of plugins where you can simply search and install and you can get facebook sharing button in a second.

As andreasup said, Blogger is a good blogging platform, but I personally prefer Wordpress too.

Another thing to consider when selecting a blogging platform is your ultimate comfort level when blogging. Although Wordpress is great, it did take me a little time to understand the various tools.

It's also true that I host my own Wordpress versus using the hosted version. That does make a difference in the long run with flexibility. But hosting your own is more complicated.

I also use Tumblr and Posterous as adjuncts to my Wordpress. I love how easy Tumblr is, but in some ways it's really too simple. On Tumblr it needs to be short and sweet with mostly images.

Pramod did a great job of giving an overall description of all the major blogging platforms, but ultimately the one you feel most comfortable using on a consistent basis should be selected.

Afterall, if you don't like the blogging platform you select you will be less likely to use it on a consistent basis. Remember that the key to successful blogging is consistency.

If you have your own domain and hosting then I would suggest Wordpress.

Wordpress is SEO optimized, lots of people are using it.

It has thousands of free themes and plugins which are helpful for your designing and seo needs, it gives lots of flexibilities also.

About blogger.com, I would say it is not too optimized for SEO purpose, however, you can use your own domain name and can do blogging, use Adsense which Wordpress doesn't' allow advertisement or Adsense on Free Wordpress

wordpress in the best blogging platform, however if you would like to create and manage a blog in wordpress.com or blogger.com then you can opt for blogger.com since it helps you integrate adsense and from my small experiments it indexes your links quickly.
