Citations from Article Directories, Anyone tried it?

Has anyone tested getting what Google looks for in citations from article directories, blog networks, ect.
What I mean is Google looks for Name, Phone, Address (NPA) on one page. Then you'll get a citation from superpages, yellowpages, ect for those. Now what if you had NPA on the bottom of articles you submitted. Anyone tested to see if this would increase Local rankings?
