Is web 2.0 and link wheel working after latest penguin update? Is it possible to get back penalized sites by creating web 2.0?
Waiting for expert's reply...

Thanks...

Change up your anchor text to direct URL and see if that helps.

      +1 for that idea

Run a few backlinking campaigns just using the url and no anchor text.

Link wheels (closed) dont work at all. They stopped working after panda update. But they are not totally dead. Leave no footprints while making them. Web 2.0 still work. but don't spam the hell out of them. Hope you understand what i mean.

You dont want the google to trigger the mass spam index penalty against your site.

I came here to say this as well.

Despite all the negativity on WF lately, backlinking isn't dead. Spamming is dead. The way to succeed in this era of internet marketing is to build quality backlinks. Avoid anything spun or low quality or spamming.

That said, WEB2.0 is still going good as long as you use quality content. Don't be afraid to build backlinks to your web2.0 site....

Don't be afraid but dont spam your web2.0's hard either, I've seen some pretty ugly results about 6 months ago where I spammed my web2.0 hard with a 10k scrapebox comment blast, it seemed that the innerpage got penalized bigtime right through the web2.0

Dont spin content.... google can tell that its spun.... just creat good unique content.

in fairness sites with nothing but high qualty loinks got hit too. Mine was about anchor text diversity.

In your definition, what's considered a "thin" site? The amount of pages?

Link wheels still has its power until now. But not as powerful as before. For web 2.0 properties, you can make a small free blog network from those ones which brings lots of page value to your site.

I mainly use my web 2.0 properties in giant link pyramids to give them as much linkjuice as possible before aiming them to my money-site... and it still works without a hitch!

All the participants discussed it very well and using direct url rather than anchor text would also be a good practice but to say about it as best practice is before the time because we do not still have results against this practice.

I don't think that penguin update is only for link building strategy change. It has a great deals with content.

What about blasting web 2.0s with fiverr gigs consisting of wiki links and scrapebox blasts, does that help or is it asking for trouble?

You can get a low authority site penalized by most link building methods. With that said, if done right, the way my company does it, then web 2.0s will be quit effective. Using quality promotional content would be a great start.

yes a thin site would be few pages lots of dup content and doesnt offer any real value to the visitor.

As opposed to a site that is updated regularly with unique quality content and has a design that looks like you give a dam.

Back in the days of BANS they use to be thin sites :-)

I think thin sites (websites with 5 to 10 pages) can still rank well just as long that it contain informative contents and visitors are naturally linking to it. Thin sites that have 2 pages a.k.a made for adsense sites that provide very little value to the visitors and has thousands of backlinks will definitely look unusual. These are some of the types of websites that mostly got filtered out by the latest Penguin update.
