I really want to jump into internet marketing but ive chosen all the wrong paths, i need a steady income and need help getting started and would appreciate if someone could forward me towards the right direction.

    IM + steady income don't mix too well...

    Steady income is for people with salaried jobs... In the IM world you get paid on performance. Perform consistently and you will find that you are making money consistently.

    A lot of different methods to start making money, pick one that you can get started on right away and dig in.

    There are many ways to make money online..for ex..

    1. Learn Search Engine Optimization, after that offer SEO services like link building..

    2. Learn Affiliate Marketing, ..... start promoting other's software on commission base.

    3. Learn Web Designing, .... start building websites for you clients...

      If you don't have any money to invest into getting started, you will need to start from the bottom and work your way up.

      The best way to do this is to offer your services to other marketers. There are lots of tasks involved with SEO and internet marketing that can be quite repetitive.     I don't think anyone can point you in the right direction. Only you can determine what you are interested in.

    I can give you an example though.

    If you are into fishing, for example, you can start a fishing blog and promote fishing tackle and gear on the blog.

    I think the best way is writing contents to your blog/website or other websites that pay you when you write to them. If you write on your own site, it needs optimization too and you should be able to optimize your website to rank in top results of Google and other search engines. but if you write on other websites that i mentioned, they usually can rank in top result of Google with making some backlinks. For example Squidoo, Hubpages and Hubmesh are revenue sharing sites that you can write content to them and earn money.

    A easy method for beginners is setting up an Amazon e-store using Wordpress. You make money by placing a special amazon affiliate link on every product you list on your website.

    This means when a visitor clicks a link you can now earn commission on any product they may buy from amazon! This method lets you practice using Wordpress and get your head around plugins which make life a whole lot easier!

    Tips:
    Pick a popular product
    Add a shopping cart (extends cookie length to 90 days)
    Write your own descriptions for everything (good for SEO!)

      Good advice, but this isn't going to be valuable to CashCookie unless they know how to drive traffic to their affiliate links. This is exactly why I suggest doing grunt work for other SEOs - so they can learn from the ground up.

    You can start with working for others for payment, that is writing articles, develop website etc and by doing this you can understand what really valuable and important in IM. With good understanding start your blog, place ad there like adsence. But its for sure that, the amount will not be steady.

    The good start is freelancing, as a freelancer you would be learning instead of earning... you may have any skills like writing, typing etc. on the basis of these skills you can get work on any freelance clients but you have to understand the terms and conditions of the freelance sites first.

    Give this guy a break.
    1. SEO is a trap for beginners. Its a moving target.
    2. Affiliate marketing is also good but if you don't know how to drive hords of hungry traffic into your site, you'll sell nothing.

    What I recommend is to PROVIDE VALUE and it can be service or product + you must know to who you are selling and test if there's demand. Then work hard !

    P.S. If you think IM is get rich quick, you are wrong ! You will spend time like in any other business, so get ready for 12hours/day work on your project if you want it to make serious money.
